  2. Well the answer is yes really, it means your not using your air filter which isnt a good ida really, having said that, it might not be that...But you really should be using your air filter, Ive seen those carb to airbox connectors on ebay, i'll look out for one and give you a shout
  3. I agree, Sounds like dodgy ignition switch to me too not pre ignition (because the kill switch works)
  4. Hi Lee and welcome to the forum. Youve just bought it so you dont know the history Strip down the carb and thoroughly clean all jets Check and set the float height De coke, especially around the exhaust port Check the air filter, does it need cleaning and re oiling? (Thats if its still the original foam type)

I think youll find T Cut is the perfect tool for the job. Use a damp cloth and rub GENTLY in small circles over the affected area, Polish off at regular intervals with a dry duster to check if clear, When happy apply a bit of polish to paintwork, furniture polish would be fine. Next time you use luggage, protect your paintwork with some of that grippy mesh stuff, I got some from the local pound shop, only £1 a roll, Great for under tank bag or tail fairing

Hi, You dont want anything too thick, Or it will clunk like mad when you put it in gear, especially when cold. 20w 40 should be ok.

Try running with fuel tap in prime, , If it starts after you leave it for a while and then konks out, This can be an indication of blocked fuel filter and you will need to check for good fuel flow from tap

A guy is driving around Tennessee and he sees a sign in front of a house: "Talking Dog For Sale." He rings the bell and the owner tells him the dog is in the backyard. The guy goes into the backyard and sees a Labrador retriever sitting there. "You talk?" he asks. "Yes, I do," the Lab replies. "So, what's your story?" The Lab looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired." The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner how much he wants for the dog. "Ten dollars," the guy says. "Ten dollars? This dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?" "Because he's a liar. He never did any of that stuff."
  18. My DT175MX is 1979 and that has an autolube pump, You need to find out where yours is or confirm that it has been removed, Much better than mixing in the tank
  19. Sounds like the chrome is peeling yes, theres nothing you can do other than source new ones, or good used ones...or have yours re plated.
  20. Hi the title says 1970, and your profile says 1979?? Does it not have an autolube pump?

There may well be Bob but youre gonna need a Haynes manual, or get someone on here who has a manual to scan you the relevant page, I would start with PM ing Markyboy27, Hes into the mechanics of little dragstar and might have a manual. Personally I would be happy at the results of the multi meter test at the battery...Thats way way too high yes!, Looking for something like 14v when revved as i said earlier, Maybe you repair your regulater, dont be hasty to throw it away until youve seen the manual

  25. Hi Rhys in Oz, Good to hear feom you mate, Its a tricky one with your dad yes, does seem like double standards. Ive been riding bikes since 14 years old and my mum and dad must have been worried back then too, But at least for the first early years I was riding off road due to my age and gaining skill and experience. Ypu say you have also got lots of experience too..Thats what i cant understand, Especially that dads got a bike too! Anyway Good luck with it all... Think you better just get it and go out for rides with dad
