Test passed
Great stuff, well done...

thanks for nothing guys
Fine by me too, I wonder when Yamaha dropped that colour, I now associate them with blue for some strange reason, although the Yellow / Black will live on, I'd put money on it that a Ltd edition Yellow and speedblock livery would boost sales

thanks for nothing guys
With a name like 'KingKennyWannabee' how about yellow and black speedblocks?...

DT 175MX reed valves
Hi Darren, Before you adjust the mixture screw just check you havent got any leaks between carb to inlet rubber mount and between rubber mount to reed cage. start the bike and warm it up to a steady idle, then while its running spray all around these joints with WD40 and listen for any change in engine noise, a change would indicate a leak, and a leak would mean lean running which can be fatal!!

Automatic clutch
haha, that takes me back, used to hold down the lever, give a hand full or revs and let the lever go...great fun on the old step thru's

Piston Oil scraper ring
Ooerr, i didnt read the thread properly, full throttle for 3 - 4 miles, I find that when I do that it doesnt go any faster...just makes more noise!!, as you say the mixture screw is out of the equation at WOT ...so it just cruelty to elderly DT's then

Piston Oil scraper ring
Thats right if full chat is also full throttle, but could be full speed on 1/2 throttle on a flat road with a tailwind...worth considering?

Desperation Plea
Well its a switch so it will be very few Ohms (around two) in one poition with meter set to 200 ohm range, and very high or infinite ohms in the other position with meter on 20 KOhmm range...at a guess, i've never tried it.

Piston Oil scraper ring
Youre right, this expander ring is only supplied with genuine yamaha rings, thats why i would say re-use it, if you cant...then thats that! i dunno what its purpose is but obviously Yamaha thought it was a good idea. so you havent got an "oil scraper" ring, just two rings...thats good, what are you going to do to prevent a recurrance of the last disaster?

Piston Oil scraper ring
How many grooves were in your old piston, there should be only two. Are you referring to the expander ring that sits under the second ring; If so re-use the old one.

1979 yamaha gt80 wierd problem
I'm surprised its the same with the choke on though, perhaps you are losing your spark when you load the engine, try a new plug, or check the electrode gap at least, best of all use a plug checker to see the spark Here

so does the crankcase seal run on a shoulder on this gear, and now you have a groove in this shoulder?...not familiar

rd350 ypvs f2 smoking more out the right exhaust help!
Hi pots, dont like the sound of the groove you describe, the only real way is to pressure test your engine (and i dont mean a compression test), I suspect your transmission oil will smell of petrol in due course. there is a dedicated rdlc forum, our Mervin will hopefully guide you there. ...Paul

Which corporation is this?

need help yamaha gt80
its time to strip & clean the carb, check for water in the float bowl or blockage in the main jet, failing that do a general strip and clean routine using carb cleaner (avoid this on rubber parts) and compressed air. This is a useful read Here
