  1. Glad to hear you got away with it Darren, some spectacular pictures there. It seems almost an annual event these days, doesnt seem long a huge part of the country had this.
  2. I have seen that some of the American bikes have a restriction in the exhaust header...any comments? Strip and thoroughly clean the carb, use carb cleaner and compressed air to get it nice and clean. make a note of all the numbers on the parts in the carb jet sizes, main jet number needle and clip position etc, set the float level to 21mm.
  3. Mechanically all the engines are the same, the engine related differences over the years are the carb and the CDI ignition. ...Paul
  4. Welcome to the YOC forum Paul So far as the sleeve goes, Dont know where you will get the exact same sleeve from but perhaps try some black heat shrink Here sleeve or try yambits, give Dave a ring there ...Paul
  5. OK so a while back I bought a spare engine pile of poo off ebay and as it is at my workplace decided to investigate further. Here are the oil connections in the case And the other side with the case removed from the engine...too cramped to get access to remove the tubes so I used a pair of vise grips (mole grips) and got a hold of the spigot like this and then got a grip of the vise grip in a bench vise. Then using a wooden drift I tapped the casing and the spigot came free So here it is...removed ready for a new tube to be fitted Tip...remove the smaller spigot first and then you will have better access for the vise grip on the other I did this without any heat although it may be easier with heat if its stuck fast. ...Paul

    Garelli GT 50

Heres a rare find, dont remember this version, not sure if it was exported to UK,just remember the Rekord and the Tiger Cross. NOS Garelli GT 50
  7. Nick, these connectors are a permanent fixture and you should not try to remove them, you will no doubt have access to the pipe connections to the two spigot's if you drain the oil and remove the clutch casing. ...Paul

    dt 125 electrics

Well it will be either 6V or 12V, no dount it will say on it ...or alternatively count the cells, 3 cell = 6V, 6 cells = 12V
  10. Foamy, looks like you live a long way west of me!
  11. But you really DO need to check the timing, when it ran backwards the timing would be retarded and yes it would rev freely
  12. Yes sort the carb out good and proper and set the float height to 21mm. I expect you havent got a dial gauge and stand so wont be ablle to set your timing by the book....But if you get a Xenon strobe lamp you will be able to check it, just connect the strobe lamp to a 12v car battery and then to the bikes HT lead and away you go, there may be three inscribed lines in the mag rotor; you are looking to align the centre on with the mark on the crankcase, i'll try to find a picture.
  13. Not on mine, I can ride with the 'pilot' light on, just like i can drive the car with the 'side lights' on. Its not just a parking light.
  14. Always thought there was something fishy about you john

  16. Fits in nicely with Friday the 13th A lesson learned the hard way, bet, hope you dont do it again for a long time
  17. I didnt know that ...just a bike thing?
  18. Pull the fuel pipe from the carb spigot and check for a good flow of fuel in both the 'ON' and 'RES' positions, if flow is bad then there is a screen inside the fuel tap. Be careful because the hexagon on the fuel tap bowl is soft and will round off if you get heavy with it. I am assuming it is not a vacuum operated one but not sure because you stated the year as 1988?

    RD125LC

There is a phone number with that , why not ring them and ask for any id part numbers from the CDI and compare to what you have?

    RD125LC

How about this one? RD125LC NOS CDI
  21. 1988? got a picture? what is the engine number? dont think they were around in the uk then but still exporting a similar bike elsewhere
  22. Hi David, cant find that, what's the engine no?
  23. Thats sounds like it's more than likely the problem, to prove it spray something like WD40 onto the cracks and see if the engine speed / tone change. ...Paul
  24. Better a pipe than the tank eh! alls well that ends well, now enjoy your legal bike
  25. Hi, member 'Wild foamy' did all this stuff on an aircooled one...do a search for his topics.
