  1. Yes.....very The thing is though we dont even know if the shock is pressurised or not, and if it is...what pressure? I would be looking at the route of 'modification of another' myself, you might pick one up cheap and any engineering firm could knock up something to fit the ends. Thats the drawback of living in Ireland i guess, not so much to choose from as over here!
  2. so you have a few choices, if its goosed you can no doubt get it repaired professionally (Hagon?) or indeed have a go yourself but you would need something to compress the spring and how will you get the seal out, is it a pressurised item? has it also lost pressure? i'm just guessing, no real experience of this myself, my DT has still got the original 30 year old shock on board I take it you tried ebay...what Triumph model is it? will another shock do,,,why not contact sellers of other shocks and badger them for dimensions? i reckon that might be a good way to pursue this.

    siezing brakes

You need a good tool kit an understanding of how it works...whether it is a sliding caliper or a dual piston type and a degree of competency. Otherwise get it done by someone, its brakes so dont start it unless you know youre going to get it right.
  4. Never heard of it being done a-la DIY Whats it for?
  5. Hopefully it will sell ok as its a popular size. If you advertise it here though you will have to do so in the for sale section, you could try ebay with a reserve if you want some guarantee or there are many other forums, some specific to 125's i think. Only thing is...its the worst possible time to sell May / June would be much better.
  6. Ok just look into the pin thing then, like i say you may have to drop the forks through the yoke a bit, if you do this you may even find you can still use the 175 brake cable!
  7. When you say "250 front end" you mean forks and wheel? because the 175 wheel is not likely to be the same or at least you will have to investigate this as well as the steering head pin.
  8. Greetings. The 250 would be a chunkier front fork i expect but thats not to say it wouldnt do. The crucial thing though is the length and size of the steering head pin, you will have to get the dimensions of both and work it out. Dont worry if the 250 fork is longer as you can raise the stanchion through the yokes by that amount to preserve the geometry of the original fork. are we talking field bike here or road legal bike?

    siezing brakes

Salt has a nasty habit of fusing the pads to the disk, no way round it other than dont ride. I suggest you wipe dry the disks after each ride.
  10. Hard luck Alex and at least you werent hurt or caused damage to someones car. I wouldnt worry too much about fixing up the cosmetic side of things just sort out the brake lever etc to make the bike safe. By all means source and gather the parts but dont bother putting them on yet until May when theres little chance of it happening again. I remember years ago the ride to work 13 miles in snowy icy weather, i was dead relieved to get there....until i fell of at the factory gates, much to the amusement of the security guatds
  11. Part fill the tank with either......... clean m6 nuts Aquarium gravel Broken glass from a car windscreen (go to your local wreckers yard for this) Then fe fit the cap and give it a good shaking it might be an idea to cut a disc out of some thin plastic (kitchen packaging) just to protect the underside of your plastic gas cap

  14. Not familiar with the bike or its carb but it may be leaking from the overlow its a bit of a guess really without a better description or a picture but the overflow is the lowest tube and is connected to the bottom of the float bowl and is facing rearward. The other connection (apart from the fuel feed) is the air vent tube and is connected somewhere on the side of the carb. If it is leaking from the overflow then you will need to check the condition of the shut off valve and the float height setting (which i dont know) for this bike. Merry xmas ...Paul
