  1. PMSL but also gutted for you mate, your description of jamming inert useless material such as your grey matter was highly amusing. On a more serious note http://global.ebay.com/Yamaha_248-16150-02-00_CLUTCH_BASKET_ASSY/280531046114/item http://www.nwvintagecycleparts.com/search-results.php?q=248-16150-02-00&st=spart http://www.nwvintagecycleparts.com/search-results.php?q=248-16150-02-00&st=spart Dohhh!!! one of these NW Vintage jobbies is $99 on ebay but the url ling takes it to their $150 one?? Just paste this into ebay motors and you will see it for $99 NOS Yamaha AT1 AT1M CT1 CT2 Clutch Basket 248-16150-02 What I do when undoing the primary drive gear is to remove the barrel, head, piston and small end bearing. then place a 1/2" socket drive extension bar through the small end in the con-rod. Now turn the crank until the stroke of the rod is 1/2 way down. Now pack under each side of the soket bar so that it will jam against the packing when you undo or re-tighten the primary gear nut. Hope you can make sense of that ...Paul

Ooohh...I feel a picture coming on
  3. You have an air leak Possible places are 1: Carb slide is not bottomed for whatever reason have you put the slide in the right way round with the cutaway facing the filter box? 2: Cylinder base gasket not sealing 3: Cylinder head gasket not sealing 4: Leaking reed valve manifold joint or carb to intake boot joint 2,3 and 4 Can be investigated by spraying WD40 around the relevant places
  4. I didnt say head, I said base...that's cylinder base.
  5. You had the barrel off? and when you cleaned off the old base gasket you left a teeny weeny piece of gasket by mistake now that piece is causing an AIR LEAK This is of course a guess Have a spray around with WD40 and see if it affects the engine speed / tone, this may point you in the right direction to find the air leak. Feel free to intro yourself in 'The Bar' ...Paul
  6. Could be too advanced ignition Could be to timid a kick to start or both these conditions By the way, 2 strokes will generally run backwards if you bump started them backwards
  7. Did you test the fuel tap operation? it seems strange the plugs always seemed so dry.
  8. Bike has to upright, not on the stand to check level of oil. Going back to the apparent lack of fuel earlier, is the fuel valve a vacuum type and if so did you have it switched to the 'PRIME' position?
  9. http://www.yamahascooterspares.co.uk/spares/epc2.asp?PageiD=10&modelID=9520 £10.72 for the plug £1.07 for the 'O' Ring http://www.yamahascooterspares.co.uk/spares/vinsearch.asp?vin=tdr125
  10. sounds like you got water somewhere it shouldnt be, tell me this washing...it didnt involve any forced jets of water did it? Try spraying the HT lead , inside the plug cap, and the ignition coil, relevant to the particular cylinder that wont run (cold exhaust one)
  11. L plates no problem CT, Drewpy Vez and up-yours on Saturday, they are not using motorways.

    Suziki issue

It's flooded, take the plug out and leave it out at least overnight, then try again, if it starts switch off the fuel until the engine stops...then you're good to go
  13. Cheers John, van will be good. so your two tents are 2 man and one man blackhat and me...Friday in van 2wheels and BWJ...Friday in BWJ's tent Drewpy...Saturday in own 1 man tent blackhat is taking a 2 man and a 1 man tent for others Vez? Cynic? up yours?
  14. Camping is free on the understanding thet meals are bought from the cafe / bar, there will be no problem getting a space, theres lots of 'space' there. I dont mind phoning but it wont matter really I think. Whose going Friday? 2wheels...barking...is blackhat?
  15. First thought are...The water you mention, give the coil and HT lead a spray with WD40, remive the ignition side cover and check its dry in there, a spray of WD40 in there too wond do any harm. Next time it stops, open the fuel tank filler lid, does it suck in air...can you start it now? Could be a blocked tank vent.

  17. When he comes back and says "I checked for spark with several plugs".............
  18. welcome yammylover, feel free to introduce yourself properly in 'The Bar' It only works from the engine on mine and then you get this sort of orange glow thing going on Sounds like you need a new battery but just confirm the short thing by unplugging the red wire from it after charging. Then see if it still drains.
  19. 4FU cylinders are nikasil plated unlike the DTR's which are just bored out steel liners. Also TDR's are rarer so spares will be harder to find. Keep an eye ou on ebay in case some goodies come along.
