  1. Superb Mervyn, wondered where you were, how many went?
  2. Hi, it sounds like it needs new crank seals, magnetop side is dead easy to do, you will need a flywheel puller though. The other (clutch side) is harder, you may need to buy or make a clutch tool, and also may need to remove the barrel for that one, which then leads to...why not fit new rings while the barrel is off, Oh and of course new gaskets for cylinder base, head and clutch cover. You would be well advised to read this thread And an introduction would be good ...Paul
  3. Hey well done Steve, hope the MOT goes well and you can enjoy the rest of the hot summer.
  4. Hi and welcome to the YOC Mike, where are you by the way? That bike to me looks to have the 'wrong' front end on it. Wheel. mudguard, forks and even speedo are all wrong and from another bike. The pics of the 125 and 175? they are virtually the same bike with no difference cosmetically or with running gear. As for the flat side panel. thats just a very early one from the first of the MX's (one year only) Engine and frame numbers should match and will tell the tale as to the origin of the bike ...Paul
  5. Vez must have posted the wrong link. Whats up with your carb ?
  6. Link not working for me tonight??
  7. Did you check them for continuity?
  8. With the benefit of the wiring diagram now...disconnect the two pin plug socket from the flasher relay. Link the Brown/White back onto the relay. Jumper from battery Positive to the other pin where the Brown would have gone, Now try again, this takes the indicators away from the keyswitch, if it is any better you need to clean the contacts of the keyswitch or replace it.
  9. It's best to use petrol resistant laquer on a petrol tank, the other stuff disolves
  10. I would try to jumper a live wire from battery positive directly to the flasher relay signal. Cant put any detail on that until later. If it fixes it the problrm may be a dirty / corroded contact in the flasher handlebar switch. However, more likely the main keyswitch I think as this switches the battery 6V to auxilliary equipment and switches. I suppose a jumper between the red and brown may prove or dis-prove this, but again I am guessing, will check later.
  11. I imagine "Halfords petrol resistant laquer" does indeed come in aerosols.
  12. Ehhh, just how can a 2001 DTR be de-restricted "at the headlight cowl" ?
  13. Have you got a see through oil pipe to the manifold? I agree with your scepticism with regard the pump, you need to have confidence in it. Yes by all means pre-mix untill you are happy with the pump, I would think a 40/1 mix would be ok. bleed the pump by taking out the bleed screw (or rubber cap) wait until no air bubbles come out and only oil does. After that is done start the engine and allow to idle, now turn the pulley on the pump by hand until maximum, you will see the oil pumping through the see through pipe, about 6/7mm with each pulse, I think that air bubble will soon disappear If you see this you can be happy with your pump and just monitor the oil level drops in the tank...then you can add just fuel to the fuel tank next time.
  14. What is the current exhaust...standard Yamaha issue? Nothing wrong with them other than they are heavy. Like any exhaust on a trail bike though they are high maintenance and will need cleaning and painting often or they soon look sh1t

Hi webi, no way it will weigh half a kilo...thats only 1 lb in old money so thats mis information. We do have an expert on this bike who is a member here, he will put you righ about many aspects of this bike, he doesnt come on hare a lot though. he is 'fosdyke'
  16. sounds good to me Kev, anything between 40/1 and 50/1
  17. It's a 15.9 Litre tank, so 15.9/0.35 = 45 to 1
  18. Thats funny.

Try asking here Marcus or you may be able to pick some up here http://www.sunrisegraphics.co.uk/sunrise/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=22&Itemid=18 ...Paul
  20. Yes i just re-read it, and I was a grumpy old git...sorry
  21. Busted Kev
  22. It's an expander ring, it fits under the second (bottom) ring. you will see the bottom ring is narrower than the top one, that's because this expander goes behind it.
  23. let's make an assumption here, that is a fuel / oil ratio of 50 / 1 Your tank holds 10 litres Therefore at 50/1 it will be 5 tanks of fuel even with an oily mix of say 40/1 it will be 4 tanks of fuel Check again Pat
  24. I never had a problem with it youre only talking about the last drop in the tank anyway arent you?
  25. This topic was about backfire...why are you asking about brake pads? why not start your own?
