Can you elaborate on the 'leak down' test, Usually the exhaust and every other inlet or orifice is plugged isnt it? I was refering to the other side of the seal, the little VEE moulding that seals on the crank, not the carrier ;)If you can pressurise then block off the exhaust and place a pipe from the transmission breather spigot into a glass of water, that will test the integrity of the crank seal.

Hmm same issue = same reason, perhaps the sealing surface got damaged when it popped out
  4. Oh ok just checking, mine are 15 lb-ft, 8mm diameter studs and I thought you may have mis-typed.
  5. Dont you mean 15 lb-ft
  6. You should really use a torque wrench too on the cylinder and cylinder head If you can possibly borrow one (i'm making an assumption here I know) and find out the correct torque. Start right now DO THE JOB RIGHT

  10. I think you have an air leak Ryan. Perhaps there's a cornflake stuck between your base gasket and the crankcase. Honestly though, not a fan of this method and wouldnt trust it one bit, i'll put money on it that its one of your gaskets, why didnt you buy the right ones. the copper head gaskets can be used more than once but you need to heat them up red with a blowlamp first.

Good one WF, enjoy your new bike. Heated grips are probably the best bet as we approach winter.
  16. Dont open the throttle until it fires, or if you do...only a very small amount

Should have kept the DT...much easier to push. Welcome to the YOC AB
  18. so that cofirms it then , it's a carb issue and its fuel starved when you snap open the throttle quickly. However much you think you have fettled this carb, something still isnt right, still a bit lean somewhere, the things I said before could be the cause, or partially blocked jets...did you look at the holes in the jets through a magnifying glass, are they perfectly clean?
  19. Has the needle detached from the slide?

Motocarb, or Allens, or Yamaha dealer, or any good bike shop for that matter, I tend to use motocarb and have stuff posted.
  22. Have you got a Haynes manual? What about float height, could it be too much, making for a lean mix? What happens if you put choke on and then snap open the throttle?
  23. Its not a diaphragm carb is it?
