My DT175MX
No not in the true sense of the term 'restored' Dave, i'm the the one and only owner, I rode it for years through the winters and in more recent times started to look after it, a true restored one would have all the zinc and green nuts and bolts etc, personally I prefer stainless and I'm happy with something that looks good for it's age rather than something that looks straight from the showroom.

Yamaha but no idea what it is.
Haha, its a 175, youre probably looking at how much oil it holds. Check the cylinder it may say 171cc at the bottom on the casting

Buying XV 125 spares from ebay
I have bought lots of things from ebay and generally found it a good experience. Look at the sellers 'feedback' you can see if they have lots of negative feedback but bear in mind some buyers will leave neg feedback instead of trying to sort out problems. And you can ask the seller about things before bidding if you are not sure, dont bid unless the seller has said they will post to sri lanka, what part are you wanting?

73 CT 175 odd behavior
it will be sucking air in, you would be lookinf for (or should I say lstening for) a marked change in engine speed / sound when it is racing spray the inlet boot, the cylinder base gasket, the cylinder head gasket and lastly spray the left hand crank seal (through the slots on the flywheel) with clever use of the choke you should be able to keep the bike running while you do this

73 CT 175 odd behavior
He means push the choke in to turn the choke off. as in push off...i think it says that on the choke knob.

Are 78 DT175s restricted?
Not really restricted John, it's more in a mild state of tune. however there may be a small tube in the neck of the standard exhaust the will reduce the diameter. This can be removed, I will put up some pics later for you
