  1. I was heading down the road of trying to sort this from what is standard, ie it could be that there is a fault and that the degree of flashing of the tail light is unacceptable even taking into account the drain a standard relay introduces. I still think this is a sensible investigation at this stage. However I do like the suggestion of introducing a flasher relay with much less draw from the battery, an electronic one rather than a bi-metal strip with heat coil. I have found this, purpose built and not an led version...what do you think? http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/710
  2. Thats a good idea, you mean a more modern solid state device for a 6v indicator?
  3. The regulator is only for the headlamp bulb so forget that one I suggest 1: will the battery operate the horn without the motor running...ie is it a good battery? 2: without engine running, turn key to operate tail light, take a measurement across the battery terminals and note the reading 3: take a measurement of the voltage at the blue wire bullet connector that feeds the tail lamp to battery negative (whilst still plugged in and light on) report back with readings
  4. Thats right so you have to thrash it everywhere you go and shorten the bikes life...have fun Either that or put it back as it should be
  5. Looking good, powder coating looks great on the frame. i would recommend plastcote BBQ paint for the exhaust available from Wilkinsons stores, it's good and It's cheap
  6. doesnt make sense does it so thats why I think it may have something to do with the pilot jet/air jet stuff, your bike is standard with a 160 so it should be happy with a 170 with the Gianelli. Looks like you have been trying to solve a carb issue with jet and needle changes when the issue is something other than jet or needle position. Also have you checked you have the right needle in it. If you cant sort it why not try your spare 3u500 carb I cleaned it up before sending it back to you
  7. why would going from a 160 to a 170 mean it wont run at all, thats not right. It should run with no main jet at all fitted shouldnt it? of course it would be drowned out at WOT without a mj but it shoud still run ok at up to around 3/4 throttle. Would it be worth checking your air jet isnt blocked.
  8. yes you can but its tedious and slow, so I do it before uploading.
  9. God its freezing, has he got heated grips, thermals, a hip flask...or is he just mad
  10. What makes you thing it goes from rich to lean Jason, I doubt that and would think it goes from rich to richer. If it was going lean at large throttle openings the only evidence you would have is a plug chop...I doubt you would know from performance until it holed a piston. But you would certainly notice poor performance by being rich. I have a gianelli on mine at the moment and it seems ok with a 140 instead of 130 (early airbox taken into consideration)
  11. "Its ok dear...I'll do the shopping from now on"
  12. I know what a pulse is and for that matter a jet too, but whats a 'pulse jet' whats it for?
  13. Good to hear from you again EmZee, specially good as you got the bike running and legal. Thanks for the update
  14. Aaah so barky was right , so congratulations Pat and mrs Pat, you kept that quiet
  15. Hey barky it was for his brother wasnt it?....Psst do you think he had designs on it anyway, about that gonad-gel technological seat
  16. Yeah thats a nice looking bike,...There will be others
  17. Pat can you find it on your browser history?
  18. I have no idea Pat but I would be very happy with it for £1300 even more, sounds mint
  19. no you cant just swap the plug (HT) wires, I meant swap them both entirely..ie substitute one for the other.however if it is not always the same pair of cylinders it may be something else.
  20. could be a broken wire or connection too, try wiggling the wires around near the generator, keyswitch and at various places around the loom that may be relevant
  21. How about you swap the two coils for each other, then see if the problem appears on the other 2 cylinders, this will point confirm if it's the coil.
