  1. just search for conversion and select 'forums' member NEO has recently done a well documented one on a DT175.
  2. If youre filling it in reverse dont press the pedal. Also if the pipe that attaches from the syringe to the nipple comes off you will risk soaking your brake pads in brake fluid, I would wrap the caliper in something, rags or polythene in case this happened. You may find a little PTFE tape on the nipple thread would also help to stop fluid leaking through the thread
  3. Not sure of all the differences but they have different forks and the sm has a brembo stopper up front, the sm's are less common and if you find a good one it would be a great investment...matter of fact if you find a good one of both types youre doing well because most of them are ridden by the youngsters who thrash them everywhere, I bought one a while back (trail) and am so glad I did that She'll be loaded up like a mule tomorrow, off to the aircooled RD rally in Derby, yes I know its not an RD :
  4. yes just like bleeding, if you dont do that the fluid will just travel back and forth within the pipe...thats pipe...as in NOT cable

    DT175

Its always worthwhile to bleed the pump, after all said and done its just removing a screw for a few seconds. As for restoration, you can be the judge of new or cleaned but cleaned wont look like new, however new wont stay new forever...decisions decisions. The word 'RESTORATION' it's a bit of a mis-noma when parts are replaced by new parts dont you think?

To add to what DDT posted 1) Check needle clip position, factory standard is middle notch, any notch lower (raising needle) would do this. 2) Most likely spring but check the rubber boot hasnt split and binding on the brake lever. Also has the spring been fitted wrong I wonder, theres a little nook (or possibly a cranny)in the casing for the end of the spring
