  1. Personally I would try to fix it without any new drilling myself.
  2. Have a look mate you may find the elusive new hole there already. If it isnt then just turn it and test it as I said, clockwise...a bit at a time. When your happy either drill (carefully) a new blind hole or make something that will attach into the full open hole and reach to the new position. Yuu may even find that if it has a pulley then perhaps you could place a piece of thick rubber over the pulley face and hold it in place with the cover?? dunno just a guess but it doesnt involve any drilling or pitfalls?

ok then I can see that you are unable to grasp that we want you to keep to one thread for this so I guess we'll just have to continue with this thread with the wrong title!!! so start at the beginning, Compression? Spark? Fuel?
  4. Thing is Dean I dont know how they were fixed. I am assuming the pulley is on there and that there is a pin through th 'U' shaped cut out into the hole behind. You need to check that out really to get an understanding of what you have. someone may know how it's done...I dont as mine has a working PV
  5. Dean you dint answer what i asked.

Hey jon, heres a good place to post about a DTR not starting, the clue is in the title http://www.yamahaclub.com/forums/topic/25757-dtr-not-starting/page__p__144774__fromsearch__1#entry144774
  7. turn it clockwise a bit, try about 10 degrees at a time and test it out until youte happy, max about 30 degrees at a guess. Can you work out a way of fixing it in the new position? is the pulley on there? and is it fixed somehow at present?

  12. Some sort of emissions gubbins I think, it wasnt on the DTR's but appeared on some of the RE's, you may find a tube from it that attaches to the exhaust at the front.
  13. Cheers TTb, yeah it has a brand new front muddy and the chap said it was cheap as chips, it would benefit from a new headlight cowl, with white sticker...do I have to go to yam, or can I search for acerbis?
  14. Riding on snow and ice is one thing but miles of salted roads to get there ...Aaarrrgghhhh
  15. Cheers Darren, stand by to 'get pestered' Ohh...I prefer the top pic myself...more my style.
  16. Thats the first time we have heard this, please yourself and good luck whatever it is, FYI it would not have been the first time a carb had been claimed to have been cleaned only to be found still blocked later in the thread!
  17. Coud be the right hand crank seal, check your gearbox oil for the smell of petrol and keep a check of the oil level in there
  18. Mine do, thats why they have square tyres
  19. Yeah took her for a spin, has some issues hopefully minor, notably Rear brake non-existant (seized) and a slight pull to one side, I hope its a wheel alignment issue, had a look and it didnt look properly central to me. I am in a good position...in that the current owner will keep it garaged for me until I sell the DTR I have been busy putting the DTR back to its bog standard and unmolested spec, de-restricted of course. I Have not got her advertised yet though. I am hoping that the DTR with all the spares and tweaked bits I have they will bring the lions share of the new bike price
  20. That sure is a symptom of a main jet blocked,if it were me I would double check unless you are sure you saw daylight Unless of course you arent letting her warm up properly
  21. Sounds like a blocked main jet even though you have cleaned the carb...could you have missed this...did you see daylight through the orifice?? I would say yes you need a battery, your generator wont be powerfull enough to operate on-board equipment without one. As for disconnecting anything....... when you get a battery you should reconnect that gadget we'll look at that later
  22. Greetings rdbug..
