good you have a fuel flow so the screens ank tank venting must be good. Sounds electrical now doesn it, can you quickly test for a spark at the point she quits? Perhaps something is going open circuit or short circuit with heat.

yes i'm forgetting you have a front dep pipe. That plastic vessel used to connect to a little spigot just on the exhaust outlet from the cylinder.
  9. If it were me i'd be going to my regular MOT chap and telling him my plans, after all it's him you have got to get it passed with. I dont know myself mate.

Drewpy there are different crimp tools, sone are just crap and kind of just crush the connector to the wire, others form the joint much better by looping each end around. I have one and can post it but its at work and i'm off until next wednesday.
  11. Wooo the DTR has sold, after just 12 hours of adverising
  12. Ta for that I will pick your brains on the finer points when the time comes. However...I am keen to learn the ins and outs of trail riding good practice, already you are talking of puncture repairs, have you ever got a puncture, how often. do you always carry your kit, how is the wheel removed and the bead broken etc etc etc spare control levers...are they a must too? I joined the ABR forum too so i'll be quizzing there also

you mean that long plastic 'stalk' that reaches down and holds the number plate? I wonder if R&G do a 'Tail Tidy' for this bike? Oh and greetings Nigel if this is your intro?
  14. I doubt if they have to be monted a specific height, that would exclude monkey bikes and all cars especially sportscars. The focus is the thing it must spread to the left and be set to the right distance....all tested at MOT time. you may find the light has to be type approved marked too...
  15. I would definitely consider a better light, it's probably worse than my DTR orange glow, what did you do on yours darren? Oh i noticed the 'idiot' lights were rubbish as well indicator warning, neutral!! quite dim

I would say right myself, runs for about as long as it takes the carb float bowl to empty.!? You may have a very slow fuel supply either because of blocked filter screen in the float bowl...or within the tank. Pull off the pipe from the carb and check the flow is fast

I must say that after a layoff ( winter for example) my DTR was a right tw4t to start. Ended up changing the plug for a new one and evantually it went. Then I put back the original plug and she continues to run just fine. I know youre not road legal but is there anywhere you can safely bump start it...with a new plug in. is yours one of the old round slide carburettors with a choke nob? use the choke, no throttle

Personally I would try to fix it without any new drilling myself.
  22. Airhead replied to Dean_DT's post in a topic in General
Have a look mate you may find the elusive new hole there already. If it isnt then just turn it and test it as I said, clockwise...a bit at a time. When your happy either drill (carefully) a new blind hole or make something that will attach into the full open hole and reach to the new position. Yuu may even find that if it has a pulley then perhaps you could place a piece of thick rubber over the pulley face and hold it in place with the cover?? dunno just a guess but it doesnt involve any drilling or pitfalls?
  23. Airhead replied to jony9's post in a topic in General
ok then I can see that you are unable to grasp that we want you to keep to one thread for this so I guess we'll just have to continue with this thread with the wrong title!!! so start at the beginning, Compression? Spark? Fuel?
  24. Airhead replied to Dean_DT's post in a topic in General
Thing is Dean I dont know how they were fixed. I am assuming the pulley is on there and that there is a pin through th 'U' shaped cut out into the hole behind. You need to check that out really to get an understanding of what you have. someone may know how it's done...I dont as mine has a working PV
