  1. could be just heat seizing with the 'new' piston, really 30 miles and you're revving to 8k plus, is that recommended practice for this bike?

  3. dont rush into pulling things apart, it maybe that you just dont know how to switch them on! The fact the flash works may indicate bulb and earths are all ok Perhaps the ignition key has to be in another posision to arm the lights...who knows...study the bike / owner book etc
  4. a compression test? its an old old bike...how many miles? Rings ever changed? Trouble is I dont know what a good reading should be on a 4T? is it in the manual? Greetings alan boyle
  5. I did, it didnt go any slower, but probably no faster either...the thing is I did a few things all at the same time so how each individual change worked out was a bit lost! I must say though I prefer the way I did it to the usual one proffered by others
  6. maybe a new set of piston rings would be in order?
  7. did you re-do the chain free play adjustment...this is crucial, i'm not saying its right to use a shock of a different length, personally i wouldnt. But dont let this change bugger your gearbox due to a tight chain!! Feel free to post an intro in 'New Members' forum

  12. Correct plug is BR8ES maty, put that one back in, your whitish plug is most likely the newness of it? but put the right one back
  13. Could it be a loose or corroded battery connection?

  20. just the points as far as i remember but its been a long long time since i had a points bike, the capacitor is only there to reduce sparking at the points
