Have you looked at the reed valves? You should only be able to blow air through them...ie you should not be able to 'suck' air through them. Visually you should see they are flat and sealed against the reed cage...or very close to it

Strip and clean the carb again and blow out all the passageways and jets within it, did you take out the needle jet (aka emulsion tube) when you cleaned it?...

Have you got a Haynes manual Steve, I documented a pretty 'in depth' check for the DT175MX, if you substitute the figures for the coils of the DT50 it may be of use to you?
  6. What an absolutely stunning bike you have resurrected there, I know it was in pretty good shape to start with but hey...now it's like new. :eusa_clap: Well done Ventura. Are you keeping her then?

  12. Pattern parts are often inferior...but if needs must?
  13. However the lever boss will be limited to fewer 'smaller' models probably due to the smaller diameter splined shaft, so getting this is 'key' to having a kicstart...the lever itself will no doubt be easier to find. I found a 'boss' see your intro post

Nice one Sacha what a great little bike thay are. Well I must agree with DirtydT here while WD40 is a 'must have' great allrounder to have in the garage, a tin of PB Blaster? would be a better penetrating oil because it's what it's made for. as to the axle, if it comes to striking with a hammer, leave the nut on at first...unscrew it to level with the end of the axle it will prevent you mushrooming the end over and then needing a new one. Also place a stout piece of wood right next to the other end and jam it up to a wall, this will help stop the arm from flexing and more of your efforts will be directed to driving the bolt out

y'know, for all the years i've been on here i've never come across that one yeah easily done in your case but i must say that since you are colour blind you might have used a 'witness' to verify your CDI connections?
