Nice one Mark, the bike looks a cracking example and you spent your £££'s wisely there. Keep it nice and it will surely appreciate in value

best bet is to strip it down, check the bore, check the piston to bore clearance, check the rings end gap clearance, replace the small end bearing. You will no doubt find the specs in the manual

surely it will have some kind of switch fitted in the tank...cant see how this would mean buying a new tank though!

yep..check the compression or at least the bore/ piston clearance and ring end gaps
