    and/or try a bit less of a jump...ie a 240 jet
  2. yes I've seen blackhats post...
  3. you will be losing some vacuum without the filter element fitted so fit one (lightly oiled) and try it again, also if there is no pipe from oil pump to carb then at least you should fit a small length of pipe to the carb spigot and seal this pipe with a screw, or bend it over and tape it off so the spigot is airtight...I take it you're premixing right now
  4. Eddie get an old bicycle spoke...you may find the thread is the same as on your dial gauge....then just cut it to length. Thats what I did when faced with the same problem.
  5. very nice indeed. Shame its not going to turn a wheel now and again though
  6. has to be a good investment Steve, you would make a few £££'s there or you might like it so much you'd keep it
  7. I read the same thing just tonight eddie, frankly I dont believe it's correct though whatever their conclusion was!...or we'd all be having the same problem wouldnt we? so then...what do you think of this sparkplug?
  8. I'm going, Its a great show...all manner of vehicles For me....Its a nice rideout too http://www.sheffieldandhallamshiremc.co.uk/hope-show-13.html
  9. OK so over last couple of months, Ive been dong some WOT plug chops to try to achieve the holy grail of a coffee colour at my sparkplug, I suppose since I fitted the temperature gauge I've been a bit paranoid about the temperature this engine runs at! so what do you guys think of this then Rich, Right, Lean ???
  10. Heres how the choke cct works If your bike has been standing unused for a while, theres a good chance the small hole 'A' is blocked or there is a build up of crud in the lift tube 'B'
  11. Get it warmed up and then apply the choke, this should kill it dead and is an easy way to prove the choke cct is working. The problem you are having possibly indicate that it isnt
  12. Thr problem is...if both carbs were the same make you could assume the numbers on the jets would relate to the same thing, but if one carb is one make and the other is a different make, how do you know the numbers mean the same...? you'll have to do some plug chopping but I know from experience these days it isnt easy...especially if you are set too rich!
  13. when I was a kid and used to mingle with the MX'ers, some of those guys ran their bikes on methanol It's incredible how cool those engines ran I remember that much, also they ran with much larger jets.
