most likely dirty contacts in the ignition switch Simon, if you jumper a feed to the flasher relay brown (at a guess) it will prove that

sometimes Alan I have seen a small jet type orifice right in the mouth of the carb where the air is sucked in for the mixture screw regulation,,,not sure if your LC has this but they can get a bit blocked with debris from the airbox and need poking clear and blowing through with compressed air. You can see it here right at the bottom of the intake..

that looks nice Mike, was going to say replace the fuel filter too but wouldn't that fuel be a bit more repetitive and maybe show more when its being given the beans, its an odd one that Greetings by the way question...are the carbs not normally lower down?....could it be connected to fuel levels theres not much fuel head there! -

Maybe the exhaust is off another bike but it looks ok on yours to me, the guard you have will be good enough wont it...aren't you happy with it? Blackhat suggested why the bike leans more, it's usually because of wear on the pivot bracket and bolt

Its just the heat shield you are referring to, you have the muffler
