    Well Hello

That advanced riding would benefit you yes, the more you do the better, watch out for metal manhole covers on bends, watch out for banding where repairs have been done and watch out for blind car drivers, i reckon our Goff would love to talk about riding safety stuff because she's well clued up on these things
  13. A performance upgrade? and i thought it was so the fairing didnt melt, seems daft though since engines need to be cooled somewhat, so why insulate the exhaust...so thats my view no pro just a con unles youve got scorched fairing paint, i'm here to learn though anyone??

    Well Hello

welcome to the forum and to biking Kev, glad you saw the light, not many make the switch so late but thats their loss, be careful while you gain experience and if you can try to get out with others, you will get experience and have fun too, bikers are a great bunch as i'm sure youre learning
  15. There should be no drag with your brake, check that the pads are free to move inside the caliper and that the anti rattle spring is fitted correctly and has not become trapped anywhere between the pads and the caliper.. Try using a wood chisel to scrape any rust and old brake dust out of where the pads sit and check for rust build on the edges of the pads
  16. Pictures might help and where are you? or where is it?
  17. As its only 11 years old why dont you buy from your Yamaha dealer?
  18. The easy way is to pull the cable up fron the engine case it will stop when the pulley is fully open, or you can pull off the pump cover and push the pulley round with you finger, either way allow the engine to tick over and hold the pulley at max position briefly, dont over do it though its just to make sure the oil is there from the off
  19. It shouldnt be necessary Steve, that has never been a part of running in even a brand new engine, the crucial things are that you did a good engineering job when you assembled it and as has been said many times jetting and mixture is set correctly, if you are putting your old 50cc pot back on i suppose youre jetting must me somewhere near as its as it used to be, just make sure the air mixture screw is set right Edtt You should wipe round the bore and piston with two stroke oil upon assembly On first starting your bike you should force the pump stroke to maximum without opening the throttle to maximum briefly to ensure oil is there immediately.
  20. you get an old spark plug and hammer out the central electrode and ceramics, you are then left with the threaded part. Drill out the threaded part to the same size as your dial gauge spigot, Then drill and tap for a 4mm screw into the side and fit a screw this will hold the DTI tight. you may or may not need to screw in an extension piece to reach your piston.
  21. cant you see a drain plug in the float bowls?
  22. Why dont you take the bike in to get it sorted if you cant do it yourself or do you really want to have a do at this? have you got the know how to remove the carb and float bowl to see what size main jet youve got?
  23. Tank breather?, try the idle thing with the filler cap open. Fuel filter, is it blocked?
  24. Havent got experience of restricted widgets, but dont they put a spacer above the carb slide, thus preventing the throttle from opening fully?
