Drain the float bowl on the carb, there may be some crud or water in there. You may see a drain screw somewhere at the bottom of the bowl.

  9. is it a drum brake, has the cam seized in the backplate (a common occurance) Try moving the operating arm by hand, pull it back, now is the wheel free?

I hope the steering lock was not the only barrier to prevent theft, frankly theyre pretty useless, at home you need some pretty hefty chains on and alarms are not expensive if its kept outside I suggest you fit one also...Ask 'Vez' about them.

No shit sherlock! An unusual happy ending, great news
  13. Just fitted a goodridge braided fron line to mine. Remove reservoir cap. fit clear plastic tube to bleed nipple and punch a hole into a jam jar cap. Pass the clear tube to the bottom of the jar. top the reservoir up to its upper level. Stand on the left of the bike. Pull the lever 3 times and on the 3rd pull do not release it. Open the bleed nipple with your left hand, you will see dirty fluid come out, maybe air bubbles too., also the lever will continue to move to the handlebar. When the lever stops...close the nipple. Repeat the process but keep a check on the level in the reservoir. ...Paul
  14. Well the 3MB and the 3BN heads have both been used on DTR's at some stage. Scrubbed up well, just need a gasket set now, and some time, and a sunny day!
  15. You know we would help if we could, not many RXS users visit us at the moment I guess. Try BCF forum, seen a few there in the past

Welcome 'Weeble' from Derbyshire, where abouts ? Tell me...Have you ever fallen down?
  20. My bike is a 2003 and like I said I was misled into cutting it up, 2003 happens to be quite a late DTR but key to all this is the number stamped in the exhaust so...If its a 3MB-14610 on your bike Dont cut it open Thats useful info Wish i'd have had the benefit of it You can add to this useful info if you tell us the number on the pipe with the half moons in it
  21. Good reply 'satelliteone' but I must challenge you on the term "gutted original pipe" You bike like mine is pre DTRE and so there is nothing to gut in the pipe, it is precisely reading this sort of comment that made me cut open my pipe for nothing, as you can imagine i wasnt pleased. It was me that was gutted not the pipe. However there was a restrictor tube in the neck of the pipe, but removing that can hardly be classed as 'gutted'
  22. How do you know? maybe it ran to 9000 when your mate had it. I thought it was running fine before you bought it! but it was in bits Already confused by what you are not telling us. Can you 'come clean' ...Paul

Are you careful to not spill any around the filler with the fuel pump nozzle? There should be a pipe on that that exits the bike lower down where it wont be an issue

Yep, when using forums it is good etiquette to say a little bit obout youself in your first post before 'picking the brain' of fellow forum users. it is also a good idea to watch the forum names, and decide for example where a DTR should be, cruisers, sportbikes, duel sport, workshop etc etc etc welcome to the forum
