  1. Baffled yes but I still think it's transmission oil. I would replace that seal anyway and stick it in place as has been mentioned previously, After all a seal is cheap and your'e an expert now with this bike and it's seal. Incidentally is it still on pumped two stroke oil? is the seal in the pump ok mine popped out once and emptied the contents of my two stroke oil into the clutch casing!

    A Big Hello

3 years to say hello What!!! are you shy Welcome exitpest
  3. No temp gauge Pat, It's an old fashioned aircooled jobbie like my DT175
  4. pressurised with the exhaust blocked? If baffled, white smoke is transmission oil being burned. On the one hand you have white smoke and on the other you say the seal is good. i'm not familiar with the bike in question though. How else can transmission oil be burned? Unless the crank bearing has play in it and when running the seal cannot keep up with the movement.
  5. Can you elaborate on the 'leak down' test, Usually the exhaust and every other inlet or orifice is plugged isnt it? I was refering to the other side of the seal, the little VEE moulding that seals on the crank, not the carrier ;)If you can pressurise then block off the exhaust and place a pipe from the transmission breather spigot into a glass of water, that will test the integrity of the crank seal.
  6. Hmm same issue = same reason, perhaps the sealing surface got damaged when it popped out
  7. Oh ok just checking, mine are 15 lb-ft, 8mm diameter studs and I thought you may have mis-typed.
  8. You should really use a torque wrench too on the cylinder and cylinder head If you can possibly borrow one (i'm making an assumption here I know) and find out the correct torque. Start right now DO THE JOB RIGHT
  9. No more white smoke then? so is this another issue?

  11. I think you have an air leak Ryan. Perhaps there's a cornflake stuck between your base gasket and the crankcase. Honestly though, not a fan of this method and wouldnt trust it one bit, i'll put money on it that its one of your gaskets, why didnt you buy the right ones. the copper head gaskets can be used more than once but you need to heat them up red with a blowlamp first.
  12. Excellent, throw a pic up before you get it mucky.

  15. Thats right, one minute they work, the next.... So how is the 'old girl' ?, what you up to?
  16. Good one WF, enjoy your new bike. Heated grips are probably the best bet as we approach winter.
  17. Dont open the throttle until it fires, or if you do...only a very small amount
  18. Should have kept the DT...much easier to push. Welcome to the YOC AB
  19. so that cofirms it then , it's a carb issue and its fuel starved when you snap open the throttle quickly. However much you think you have fettled this carb, something still isnt right, still a bit lean somewhere, the things I said before could be the cause, or partially blocked jets...did you look at the holes in the jets through a magnifying glass, are they perfectly clean?
  20. Has the needle detached from the slide?
  21. I guess i'll never leave Hadfield AKA Royston Vasey
