  8. NOTE Thicker shims increase pump stroke and output, Thinner shims decrease pump stroke and output. So You were pumping more oil with the biggest stroke 0.55mm, make sure the pin and match mark are aligned when measuring, you should get the marks alignment right before doing the stroke adjustment or at least be sure you are not on the rising slope of the pulley. You really must get the match mark on the pulley and the guide pin aligned when the throttle is closed. You have cable adjustment where it goes into the pump casing to facilitate this. It is important to bleed the pump by removing the screw at the top of the pump until all air is expelled, then replace the plug screw. Then what I do is start the engine and while it is idling I hold open fully the pump pully to allow maximum stroke for around 45 secs, this will purge air from the pump to carb oil line. The little hole in the pulley is for a spring clip and is a safety feature to prohibit the cable from jumping out of the pulley cable recess
  9. yeah Pat I'm happy with mine, handlebar mounted with a knuckle joint, it is plastic but seems strong enough, never had any issues anyway. Waterproof too.
  10. Yeah I know I'll make a topic about anything lol but just gotta share this one with you in case it happens to you too. Last week while putting on my bike jacket I found one of the press stude was not working and on inspection I could see that it had come apart in a place that it shouldnt have. So I wondered what to do yellow pages...google, and then it struck me ...EBAY Yeah with a bit of searching I found someone (a very nice chap called 'jerry baby' who sold special tools which comprised a special punch and an anvil and all manner of studs. After a chat with jerry on the phone he sold me the tools and a small selection of studs for the princely sum of £6.50 here's some pics Yep...I'm well pleased with my new skill

  13. Back in the day when I used to tinker with 4 strokes there were different settings for inlet and exhaust clearance. Why do you want to adjust it anyway Les?

  19. Try placing you meter negative on the battery negative, and also at other earth points around the black loom wires and the coil ground lug. See if the measly 3v is repeatable. Yes the black wire on the battery negative goes to chassis (earth). Also try unplugging the red wire from the rectifier...still 3v. If the best you can get is 3v you might as well strap it to your arm and run your watch off it
