befor rushing into buying a new one try connecting the black of your 3 wire relay to ground....it may well work
  11. Airhead replied to 18j's post in a topic in Classics
some are 2 wire and some are 3 wire...buy the one that equals the number of wires you have. At a guess i would say the cylindrical ones are 3 wire and the square ones 2 wire...thats often the way with DT's which have similar electrics
  12. looks like the previous owner wast so bothered but they make grips specially for custom style bikes http://motorcycle-parts-accessories.co.uk/product/8084/oxford-hot-grips-for-custom-bikes-1-inch-handlebars?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=organic

so you have a manual but it doesnt tell you what oil to use and where to fill / drain it or even how much to use? what manual is is it?
  15. Airhead replied to Noise's post in a topic in Projects
but rather than risk a fail because they dont have one you could use one of those often fitted to the rear of bicycles
  16. Airhead replied to Noise's post in a topic in Projects
yeah that looks very nice...now for the but ! but you will need a reflector to pass the MOT
  17. Airhead replied to kearnsy123's post in a topic in The Bar
Really kearnsy you should buy a manual and read it rather than have to ask about every little detail. Its a TDR, I never had one but my DTR oil went in a tank at the front behind the radiator scoop. Maybe yours is under the seat...I dunno but be careful not to pour oil in the cooling expansion tank. The gearbox oil fill is obvious although the drain plug isnt

dont use the heavy transmission oil kearnsey, your clutch will drag and gear selection will be clunky...neutral selection will be nigh on impossible i would expect. use any motorcycle specific oil for the transmission, personally i use motul transoil but there are many more...have a look at the opie oils site, they are doing an offer at the moment arent they? isnt there a post up about it?
  19. i'll see if theres any left at work next week.

  21. I devised an improvement on the tensioner arm, the original setup tends to wear down the arm and spring, flattening the spring and wearing grooves in the arm. the gap between the spring and arm in in my opinion a little excessive so i found a bit of thin wall stainless pipe and cut it to size, a wrap of tape on the arm made it a nice tight fit The finished article and another improvement, a grease nipple to lube the pivot bolt

Yes the original panel decal for 1978 had the D, R, O and 5 all filled in with black. I have an original MCM 'Road Test' from 1978 anyone want me to scan it?...hmmm not bad for £570
