  2. Right hand side of the bike behind the side panel pete, it has a rubber strap which slides on a bracket attached to the inner plastic mudguard. Have a look at the picture in this ebay link and see the grey (zinc plate) bracket at the top left of the picture http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-DT175MX-inner-mudguard-/300593714269?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item45fcc8145d

but the link is for a 175 yours is a 125, what jets are in your original 125 carb and what is the id number of it?
  7. Airhead replied to PICTURE_MAN36's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
you need to fit the shaft from the 175 pump too but i assume you didnt get it in the sale
  8. I know on later bikes the oil capacity is cast into the case, I think on my DT175MX it is 650cc (off memory) might be worth checking for this on your bike. keep ane eye on ebay, i found this but unfortunately too late. search for 168-15361* http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110723683132&viewitem=

no eddie he is asking how to register the bike for the road in USA, the equivalent of our V5. The MX175 was never a road bike there...it's a 'Farm Bike'
  10. Good on you clive
  11. Also take care about where you park it / leave it...dont take chances
  12. Greetings Tomas
  13. Just re-read your opening post The fuel tap is worth further investigation it could be starving for fuel. There is no doubt a filter screen within the bowl of the tap...take care unscrewing (10mm hexagon?) the matal is very soft and easy to round off...i would use a 6 sided socket such as the 1/4" drive ones
  14. Greetings dmag
  15. I just have a gut feeling exhaust, after all you cleaned the carb to within an inch of it's life Any way you could have just a quick razz with the silencer removed...yes I know i'll be noisy but for all I know you could live miles from nowhere.

carb jet needle set too high?
  17. The 'smiley' says it all

I found you some Tom but you disregarded them just because they were listed as spares / repair or something! if i were that stuck i would be seriously considering getting them or at least questioning the seller about their condition.

1 Broken ?...Not slightly dressed with a file? 2 But you still have the old piston that broke a ring? Compare it with the wiseco, slide the pin into each piston side by side and compare the top, bottom of the piston and the top of each inlet cutaway in each...they should be exactly the same dimebsions
  20. Airhead replied to kiln's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
i'm getting confused now, first i was suspecting the piston because it was new...but then the carb because it performed well enough, now to find that the piston caused trouble with the old carb idling and subsequent replacement didnt help! yes so we may be back to the piston now! go back a few steps...where is the old piston,,,the one you ran with?
  21. Airhead replied to kiln's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
Why did you change the carb? can you try the old one again which presumably worked well?
  22. I once read of a 'test' and can see the sense in what they were saying. Using a cylinder type vacuum cleaner note the noise of the motor when running...then seal the end of the exhaust pipe and silencer (each in turn) to the suction tube. a blocked pipe would cause the motor speed to increase as can be witnessed by the higher pitched sound of the cleaner it is a test i have never needed to do.
  23. Airhead replied to kiln's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
so it has never successfully run with this piston am i correct?
  24. I would be thinking the same as you about the exhaust...including the silencer! is it of a type that the baffle can be removed for cleaning?
  25. Great news and thanks for the feedback
