  2. Nahh its new mate, just needs some use to loosen up, try getting neutral as youre changing down to stop, ie 3rd, 2nd, neutral...then stop. However if youre a learner and in training you'll no doubt be told something else Ticking is normal as the engine cools on many bikes

  7. yeah maybe but to me the frame looked a bit different to mine at the headstock area...i could be wrong. I'm sure Harry knows by now if the tank mounting rubbers fit in the frame mounts. what do the frame and engine numbers say...they should match

  9. 1984 XJ750RL USA market
  10. just keep changing up till theres none left...that'll be sixth (does a YBR have six?) more importantly is having the revs right for the load applied, like..you wouldnt want to go up a steep hill in top gear and big throttle openings...keep the motor buzzing and not labouring.
  11. Greetings Jerry , whats the vin number?

    Pikey trikey!!

wots this royal we?...not true of many bikers kev, certainly not me i really dont mind them but i would never have one by choice , all the disadvantages of a bike AND a car Thats bending what 'up yours' has posted ...nowhere in this thread did he try telling us what we can or cannot ride, read it again...its just about his personal prejudices regarding reliant based trikes!!!
  14. if a plug is dodgy it is likely to go down completely, yeah that would do it as far as 25mm top speed goes but it would also 'not sound right' or feel right for that matter! Its an easy one to test , when the bike is running dab the exhaust header with a damp rag, the running cylinder will have a hot exhaust and you will hear the hiss of the damp rag touching it, obviously a cylinder not firing will have a cool exhaust so this wont hiss. Its a good method of diagnosing cylinders that are not firing on multi-cylinder bikes. dont be dabbing any heat shields if they are fitted, you need to get to the pipe as it exits the cylinder if poss
  15. are you in UK lotty?
  16. yeah the loose flywheel has sheared the key, in normal use there is no stress whatsoever on it because the taper locks solid. The key is only there for positioning. a new one will be very inexpensive...try yambits
  17. its been poor here too at the foot of the pennines Pat, but at least we had a heatwave the other week (that was weird) and went to work on the bike 4 times last week, this weekend is bad though, Scotlands been bad for most of the year too

  19. Bam i'm not saying you need a new sensor,... no way a new carb i'm just guessing (and thats all it is) about this sensor on your carb...I may be wrong I have no experience of them. I suggest that if you can...get a manual and see if you can do any checks on it?
  20. Throttle Position Sensor
  21. oh your carb has a sensor! its no doubt a TPS and i've no idea what to do with it...never had the need to find out, it is no doubt in the manual...maybe a resistance reading check?
  22. Great stuff beanz, they really are great little bikes, look after the brightwork now...ACF50
  23. you say carb was cleaned "thoroughly" Bam, yet this does sound rather like a blocked main jet possibility, did you look through the mj...is it clear?
  24. salt lasts all winter its there even on sunny days, i'll grant you it's not around yes but wont be long now. I couldnt believe how early they started gritting round my area last year, by the time the snow came there was none left and boy did we have snow!
