  1. they will do 60 - 70, you may get 80 with an unrestricted one but thats not being very kind, they're not built for speed...the aerodynamics are all wrong, and besides if youre on L's you wont be riding an unrestricted one anyway.... great bikes go for it but beware they are top of the list for thieves!!!!

from wikipedia The term moped describes any low-powered motor driven cycle with an engine capacity not greater than 50 cc (3.1 cu in) and a maximum design speed of no more than 50 km/h (31 mph). Machines registered prior to 1 September 1977 as mopeds had to have pedals,[20] but engine power was unrestricted, and many could top 50 mph (80 km/h) (most famously the Yamaha FS1-E or "Fizzy"). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moped pedals were removed in 1977 like I said

come to think of it were talking bollocks, mopeds were always fitted with pedals more of a necessity at first, its just that when the more powerful 'sports' mopeds were built they had to continue with the trend, it would be a better question to ask when were they not fitted? isnt your brothers moby a moped? pre 73
