Greetings and welcome Luke

another likely culprit is the flywheel rotor has not been torqued up to the required specification and has sheared the woodruff key!
-
i dont think carb gozz, more electrical. Have you a spare CDI or any mates have one on their bikes...to try?

-
Greetings andy, congrats on the pass and the nice new bike

fair enough but you dont need a tacho to 'hear' when a good idle speed is achieved, tacho's are a fairly modern invention and setting idle in pre-tacho days certainly wasnt done by counting turns! Thats why i thought you were referring to the mixture screw which has always been a counting exercise

rxs100 revs high then loses power and cuts out
Airhead replied to jamierxs100's topic in Yamaha Workshop
you could drill the heads off the screws and remove the case that way, once the case is off you will have something to get a hold of with vice grips? 6mm drill -
Guessing? you just turn the blighter until the correct idle speed is achieved, nothing to do with number of turns
-
how about some strategically placed exhaust wrapping held with a stainless jubilee clip at each end, even if it's an interim fix till you find something ?
-
for one thing i dont think you know a throttle stop screw from a mixture screw!...no one ever counts turns on a throttle stop screw hey did you run out of fuel, before you do anything pull off the fuel pipe and check you have a good flow of fuel to the carb after that...yeah maybe another carb clean
-
what condition are yours in flyday, can't they be bodged up for a while?
-
Greetings Tom, ......and no you did just the right thing there
-
Greetings blackstar and post your question in 'Yamaha Customs' and make the title include XVS650...you'll be more likely to get your answer that way lass

i did look but drew a blank apart from one that must have sold in the past on ebay!!!

you mustnt have understood what i posted? dark Green and dark Brown become live when the turn switch is operated (depending on which way it is switched) so therefore you cannot ground out these colours or you will blow the fuse! at the lamp wires...you need to find out which color wires are connected to the outer lampholder (not the centre connection),,,and consider all these to be black...wrap some black tape around them and connect to ground or spare black loom connectors

what's a "boner" sacha? (in my best gollum voice... and off topic)

to have a 'natter' is to have a chat sacha, same as 'chewin the fat' lol
