  4. could it be simply running low on fuel? I dont know anything about this bike BTW, hopefully someone who knows them will chime in. Perhaps there is two fuel tanks, a main and a reserve ? Have you studied the owner manual? I take it you bought it private sale If you havent got a user manual, download one for free here, just select the year http://www.yamaha-motor.eu/uk/services/owner-manuals/index.aspx

  6. Yeah more importantly is condition, better to pay (what you may think) a high price for a good one with plenty of meat, Than buy a cheap one on it last bore size and stripped or oversized studs...broken fins etc etc....Ive done it believe me! The trouble with ebay is what's not said...best bet is you ask the questions. Oh and £60 sounds OK me but not for a bad one The other option is autojumbles...

makes me wonder just how different the oil pump cable is (if any) to the DT175's...worth investigating? 175's have cheap pattern cables in abundance
  18. Airhead replied to ahaywood93's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
I use motul transoil but absolutely any good make of oil is fine so long as its for motorcycles, even the oils labellet 4T are fine because its just a gearbox at the end of the day, its more important to change it occasionally rather that worry about which brand IMO
  19. water pipes maybe, the carb is heated by the cooling water?
  20. doesnt your bike have an oil level dipstick?
  21. yeah and while it's off again, look out for any muck or filter material bunging up anything at the inlet side of the carb
  22. it sounds like a possible right side crank seal failure, lots of smelly white smoke and an engine choking on the stuff Check your gearbox oil level...is it decreasing? Does it smell of fuel?
  23. if your chain is very slack you run the risk of it touching top of the swingarm when the engine is on the overrun
