  1. Thankyou for the info. I just find that im sitting as far forward as my arse will go and I would like to sit an inch or so further back just so I can relax my back a little bit. I think it might be because I am short git. ( 5 ft 3. JUST lol)
  2. Hmm this is a complicated question, as I dont really know what Im asking! Basically, when Ive been riding for a while, my arms start to ache from the stretch to the handle bars- this is made considerably worse by windy conditions, and the fact my arms are quite short ( as the rest of me is). SO.. was wondering if you can get any different kind of bars that come up higher and further back than the stock ones that come on the dragstar 650 (classic). I know a screen would help the wind, but the "reach" is still a little too much, i sit as far forward on the seat as i can and im as stretched out in everyway as i possibly can be. Do they do different heights in bars? or ones that come further back? Thanks in advance Ever confused Sarah
  3. JEEEEEESUS so the brute can get louder!! LOL, my ears were throbbing so badly after our ride up to Middlesboro` a week or so ago. Do they go back in just as easily as they come out? I might have to have a listen. Do yours have the baffles in still? Or do you put em in for a long journey and take em out for small trips? Or... do you just wear ear muffs and plugs under your lid
  4. hmmmm yeah i was wondering the very same thing!

Bloody hell, hope he doesn`t ride past me while im pootling along at 40 mph. He would scare the shite out of me! Glad to see you are on top form Goffy , just when I thought it had become quiet on here I do miss mcj
  6. Thankyou very much honey, as soon as my student loan goes in I shall order them
  7. Hi Dan, sorry just seen your reply today. I have the dragstar classic, not the custom and there is a lot of difference in size/length, and so im afraid your pannier supports would unfortunately not fit. I have encountered a similar problem with trying to buy a windshield and sissy bar previously, and the custom definitely doesnt fit ( as I bought it, then tried to fit it and it didnt come close ) Thankyou for asking though Sarah

Have you tried ebay or bikemart? I remember seeing a few on there. Also there is the virago star owners club who often sell their bikes on their site.

    Congratulations!!!!!
  10. Hi there, just asking about for a very reasonably priced sissy bar for my dragstar classic. If anyone hears of one going, can you give me a shout Thanks in advance x
  11. I have had a fantastic experience with the vance hines exhausts ( cruzers). Mine dont have "not for road use" on them either, and sound fabulous. Very easy to fit, and easy instructions. You must not take all of your stock exhaust as you will need the header pipe to attach the VH ones to.
  12. Hey there, I have the Vance Hines cruzers on my 650 dragstar. They were very easy to put on, and only 220 quid including postage. I bought them from "Cruiser Ecosse" on ebay. The bike sounds fantastic now, and apparently doesnt "have" to be rejetted after fitting, although all bikes apparently should be just to get them to optimum standard. Good luck with choosing your pipes
  13. Hey there, Im not sure about cobra pipes, as I have only recently bought my first big bike ( well big for me anyway lol). I ordered some Vance and Hines Cruzers for my xvs650 which have arrived this morning but cant put them on until my bike comes back from being restricted lol. Apparently they have big bike noise, Im not sure about added performance as i am not bothered about that either. They only cost 235 from a shop on ebay! ( a lot less than they are on other customising stores sites). They do not have mufflers/ silencers with them so if your local bobby stops you then you are buggered, but apparently all vance/hines exhausts are not really road legal over here anyway. Ill let you know when i have fitted mine, I cant wait!!
  14. this might be completely unrelated. but the same thing happened to my renault clio- it simply wouldnt hold the charge. Replacement battery has done the trick COMPLETELY . Hope the same thing will solve your wifes bike
  15. "I'm riding to a goth club in Tampa tomorrow that looks like the inside of the haunted mansion. Well worth the trip. Even has a moat around one of the 5 bars." AAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHH! If only I had known lol. I love shit like that, I would have been there in a "flash" (ignore the lame pun). Nah seriously, please take some pics, it sounds fabulous. Mind you I think Tampa was a little drive away from us, I cant remember- maybe it was Miami- I really wanted to go to both, as wanted to see the beaches. Never mind... always next time when I have saved a tonne of cash. I wouldnt fancy riding a push bike in Tampa if you can hear the lightning buzz all the time... mann i love thunder storms etc, they are beautiful, but when the excitement turns to pain Id be out of there lol. God yes the queues at Disney were mad!!! the times you have to wait are pretty scary, and yes you walk back and fro through the slaughterhouse rope fences it seems like all day!! knackering! 52 times is pretty impressive- have you got children or do you just like it there? Oh and was wondering also, if you live in Florida, do you get in free or discounted to Disney, as it was really expensive !!!
  16. Wow, living in Tampa must be a nightmare, for insurance purposes etc!!! The guys we spoke to in Kissimee said that the wages for waitresses etc is about 3 dollars an hour!!! and that they survive on tips mostly- so that shocked me a bit, as we have a minimum wage here of the equivalent of 10.5 dollars an hour. But a lot is eaten up with bills and taxes, before food is even thought about, oh and then we have petrol prices !! People in Florida are worried about their gas prices... they are CHEAP , ours are outrageous now. The weather was coolish when we arrived, but had some lovely warm days during our second week when there was no clouds If we hadnt spent 7 days in Disney we could have baked ourselves quite happily, but spent most of the time under cover on rides etc. So PB, when you live over there, do you actually go and get all you can eat breakfasts? or are they just for tourists lol who are used to skinny British portion controls. If I ever moved over there, I WOULD BE HUGE!!! I have only been back for less than a week, and i had to make pancakes yesterday with maple syrup lol as I really missing the food already... ho god and the steaks....WOWWWWW Cheers PB ill let you know if we ever coming over again as it would be nice to be on a bike next time ( but with a helmet on perhaps, and not wearing shorts and flip flops loll

:D Yayyyyyy lovely shiny bikey, she`s the same as mine I think - So Goffy- would that be a dragstar, or a v star in Australia?

Heyyyy!!! yeh I am, maybe hes lost weight and given it to me ... most likely... grumble, moan, gripe....
  19. Cheers PB, I did have a look around for the brewery place, but only saw the Ihop place. How lucky are you guys over there with all those fabulous restaurants, we went to Ponderosa, Dennys etc and had the "all you can eat breakfasts"....heavenly, all for £2.50 !!!!!! Amazing service in all places, no one was rude etc, what a breath of fresh air... Spent a while looking at all the bikes in Kissimee on bike night, and around the harley dealers- the prices are half of our uk prices, so wanted to kidnap a few fatboys lol. You live in a fantastic state, with great weather (well apart from the tornados lol ), the price of living is cheaper as well we discovered after speaking to a few locals - no state taxes! - whats that all about then. We are being fleeced over here , good and proper.
  20. Just got back from Florida, and I now know why everyone has harleys over there, and this would be the flipping price!! A new harley fat boy over there is the equivalent of 8,000 quid!!!! I wish i could beam one over tho the uk for that price, but over here, you can only pick up a yam dragstar new (ish) for that. I was drooling like mad over those bikes over there, they really are gorgeous, but I did notice that the next popular bike over there was the honda shadow - we saw tonnes of them, and they were just as nice, especially when painted up and the chromes shined. I have never ridden a harley, but if given the price in dollars that we have just been seeing, Id grab one like a shot. On the other hand, I love my dragstar...

Yep they are well comfy, and look nice too, Ive just bought a pair of ultra violet camos, and they just look like normal camos on. They are pricey, but for safety i think they are worth it. I didnt get any armour with them, but apparently you can put in armour from other pants and they fit fine. My only prob with them would be sizing, my husband had to go a size down, and i had to go a size up lol, not fair is it
  22. Hi there Peabody, Im staying in Davenport, Florida for 2 weeks, and will be looking for a toe/heel gear changer for my drag star, have you got any idea where the local motorbike shops are. Also if you have any hints as to which diners are good for eating out. Thanks in advance. Sarah
  23. lol, as far as i know, its up the gears with your toe as normal, then u can stomp down on the heel to come down again, i think..... possibly.... but its good to have both options eh but on the other hand, maybe it means you can up the gears with you heel also...lol im not sure now im thinking about it
  24. thanks Goffy, I think ill ring Thundercity and ask the guys in there if it could be tweaked, if not ill keep looking
  25. Apart from the very obvious differences, Im looking to put footboards and toe-heel controls from a 1100 dragstar onto a xvs650 classic dragstar ( which only has pegs on at the moment ). Does anyone know if they are the same fixings or if they could be modified to fit? Thanks in advance
