  4. hey and hey to both you peeps
  5. maybe you can get haynes manual or an electronic workshop manual off of ebay. if not: clutch lever it wont let me paste the image in! (1) First pull the lever a few times if you can and try to ascertain the point where it bites (unless you can remember) (2)what you need to is remove no.3 (decent allen key or better a hex socket), dont loose no.9., (3) wiggle the lever out (whats left of it) of the bar-mount. (4)next you need to find the clutch cable and the adjuster (it is not numbered on the diagram) - make a mental note of how much thread is showing, measure with a ruler is necessary - and there is a large locknut on it, slacken this off (fingers or carefully with pliers). (5) now turn the actual adjucter clockwise this will let the inner cable come out so that you can take the old lever off. (6) put the new lever on the cable 'bobble'. (7) put 9 in. (8) refit 3, check tight ness (9) reset the adjuster by winding it back out, use the measure ment you took with the ruler or do it by 'eye' (10) check the feel at the lever, if it is right retighten the locknut. sorry if this sounds complex it isnt, its very similar to doing the back brake on a bicycle. give it ago! btw where are you? im in bristol, if you are close by, i may be able to show you!

this may be a warrantee issue, did the dealer inspect it? did he fit the parts for you, for free? might be worth emailing Yam UK and drawing their attention to it.
  7. yeah pattern is the same nomenclature and material but not made by yamaha. some pattern parts are better than OEM some are worse.
  8. one question. did you buy it from a trader/dealer? if yes, this is surely their responsibility to rectify. if you did then you need to return to them asap.
  9. get better soon, dude. heres hoping for a better new year for you!
  10. hey thats back luck, and on christmas too. the lever is an easy swap. if your bike is veru new why dont you put genuine yamaha lever on, iirc they aint much dearer than pattern. is that the only damage (and the bobins), if yes then you have got off lightly, tho im sure you are still pretty pissed. this might make you feel a bit better, even if it is schadenfreude: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-UEg1-6iEeo
  11. and from me too, have good one ladies'n'gents
  12. guess your gunna have to disconnect the exup cables from the original can and just secure them out of the way or remove them completely. You may need to fit a power commander to compensate.
  13. if you start your bike up after a long lay-up and it won't take any throttle, thats a sure sign the petrol has gone-off. Might be worth chucking some fuel conditioner in before you stow the bike away. modern unleaded goes off real quick, bikes are uber-sensitive to this.

sorry to sound like a tosser, but make sure you notify your insurance of this as the last thing you want is them refusing to pay out after it is nicked and recovered (lets hope not) with a non-standard paint job. It could add a fair whack to the insurance!
  15. i know exactly what you mean. for years my alarm clock has woken me up with my local bbc radio station (radio bristol), which has a breakfast show consisting of local 'news'. However a couple of months ago, it occured to me that stories about trees being chopped down (to local opposition), pubs that closing (to local opposition) or pubs that are opening (to local opposition!) isnt really important. What gets me is they would chat for an hour about weston-s-ms pier burning down and speak to dozens of talking heads but get nowhere. The final straw was when i woke up to the sound of my deputy-head speaking on the radio (that was a head-fukc, thought i was dreaming!) I tend to avoid the news mostly (though i do read world news in the times at work). Wake up to gold radio now - music far better.
  16. welcome dude. it is a good site - enjoy Edit: great fz1n!

    Want to tour

my $0.02, id be looking at something shaft drive as just a couple of trips could do a chain, and it means you dont have to adjust it etc. id want something which has a range of luggage readily available and most importantly is reliable. Maybe a BMW twin tourer? engine capacity isnt the issue, comfort, practically and reliability are vital
  22. hey, welcome to this place!
