  1. i'm in bristol fella, bought the bike from ireland's so yeah close-ish to you.
  2. I'm still slightly sore, but okay - got tons of ambulance chasers phoning me. Also haven't had the bike collected yet. They reckon mid-next week. It's my fault really - not the accident, my lack of convenience for collection due to my domestic situation. Been a tough week, went back to work and had an internal 'ofsted' inspection, trying to teach maths (i'm a technology teacher) for the first time, to a difficult class with a sore body is no fun! btw i hope you've recovered from your marathon DT journey! (top man) the car was a late 90s megane scenic - load of banger junk! funny thing was the day before i got hit off, i nearly booke the ferry for a half-term trip to spain, glad i didn't bother!
  3. Anyway i wouldn;t fill the form in as it is only for a measly £300-odd quid. I just got an email from a Nigerian Oil-Baron to tell me i'm getting $14,000,000!!!!
  4. yeah, i'm feeling ok, what i need is the sound of a screaming 350LC to make my spine tingle (not at 230am though!) The camera i used is a borrowed one and it has no brand on it! all i know is that is 3.3 MPixel (useless info, sorry). It might be Hewlett Packard?!?
  5. thanks for the replies, just had a mate her for a while, which was good. My guess is the bike is a write off as around £2000 of parts are knackered (most of the nearside of the bike). The fella did stop, it shook him up more than me. Blackhat- thanks for the offer, no need to worry, i'll probably go back to work on monday. up.yours - not sure what you mean about cameras?
  6. Thought i'd let you lot know, was having a bimble on thursday evening. Was in the middle of a three lane roundabout doing maybe 25mph, when a car changed it's mind about taking and exit and turned from lane 1 to lane 3 and across my path. Coudln't avoid it and hit the side of it. Head-butted the car and went to ground. I think the XJ6 is a write-off (which i'm gutted about as it seemed the perfect all-round machine) Now very bored at home with a stiff neck - went to hospital yesterday, but they just said it's gonna be painful and to rest. The Alps trip and Squires Cafe was a real high, but this a low, fortunately my friends have been helpful and i always tend to keep a bottle of teachers in the house (seems the most appropriate brand!). God TV is boring. Merv

    exup valve

if you do take the valve out, be ready for knackered low-end performance. The valve shouldnt really rattle, however in my experience it can be that the flap has some play in it, you can try shimming it with some washers (copper washers and some high temperature grease), though it can also happen if the cover has not been put back on correctly (happens sometimes if the bolts sheared).
  9. lol, i'm not paying too much attention in that vid, am i?
  10. I'm back too, safe and sound. Was really, really good meeting you all, the accolades have to go to Blackhat, BWJ and 2Wheels for the effort in getting there. It shows the kind of people that frequent this forum, that we all managed to get there and have a superb time. Thanks OG for leading me to Glossop, was an easy ride to wolverhampton from there on sime nice A-roads. ...i'll post up a more meaningful review asap, right now i'm gonna veg-out!

  14. trouble is, i don't want to spen 1/5 of the value of the bike on an exhaust!
  15. Hello Booney, It would be really good if you could go introduce yourself in the general forum. Unfortunately we have lots of users who join up when they have a problem and disappear afterwards. I'm not a mod or anything, but this does negatively affect a good forum! Anyway 3500rpm rev counter. Does the rev counter drop to 0 when the ignition is off? If it doesn't, the rev counter itself is goosed (or maybe possible to free with a disassembly and rebuild). If it does it when the ignition is on, it may well be the TPS (throttle position sensor), these were a known weakspot and the bikes were recalled for a replacement. Yours may have slipped through the recall (check with YAM UK or your local dealer) or the replacement may have failed. You could test the TPS yourself, however these fail via -nonlinearity and so it may not show up with a multimeter. Other than that i'm not sure. regards PG
  16. Have a good one Oldtimer!
  17. btw, living in a bin never seemed to do Topcat any harm.
  18. That woman is facing jail, what a terrible crime - everyone knows those bins are for compost and food waste only.
  19. it kinda depends on what you mean by removal, e.g. my bike has the standard exhaust/cat unit on it, but i do have R6 downpipes and a gsxr (both micron)can that i bought from george whites in swindon. It was much louder and 1/3 of the weight. It also produced more power, which very evident. I only went back to standard as i need to get a quieter can from somewhere. btw way i think george white still have the R6 headers in stock (£50), their the stainless serpent type, and you need 2003 model ones. You would also need to dress them in a little under the engine as they ride the oilpan. A few of the guys on the FZ6R forum (the american version of the bike) have knocked the guts of the catalyst out, but thats not for me as it means you can return it to standard.
  20. I'm provisionally gonna attend this with you lot, would be nice to meet you all. I say provisionally, as it will depend upon my fiscal situation (run to the alps was exp!) but 95% think i'll be doing it.....how much is camping? mervyn
