What about needle height ? and slide . are the located properly, the cable, disconect it , set carb to idle , just aliminate every thing,, pilot jet, are u shure its clear ,, -

Aye jammer , was out tday also, was at bike show, 150mls round trip, 12degrees, and thier was flys on visor ,thats warm enuff for me, had my Zed 1000, [1979] pulls like a train, and 100% reliable, more than can say about mates R1, FRONT BRAKE SEIZED ON threw him on road, minor dammage, and just his pride hurt, so only two bikes [ triumph tiger & zed] made the journey, great to be out tho

Another thing is it rubber hoses" , if so swap to stainless braided, the rubber can swell and give a mushy feel,

Sounds like air screw fully closed. backit out 1.5to-2 turns out. alas air filtre, clean it. and The IT400 is pre-mix, 32/1 make shure fuel is good, the reeds help mid-range if all of above is checked, inspect them ,,,,

Sorry to hi-jack your post ,, but many years ago , a mate of mine lost his keys when we were out at night, Now i was an apprentice [ plumber] at time and the journey man showed me a trick. When repairing a central heating boiler, the printed circuit had burned out, so using a pencil he traced the broken circuits, stuck it back on and hey presto it fired up , , So i unscrewed the ignition of mates bike, got a pencil from chinese takaway, penciled in between the solder dots on back of ignition , And walla " the bike fired up , all to the amazment of the disbelievers standing around ,,, Thot u wud like to kno this ,,, you learn every Day

Yeah ur right" i never knew there was so many sold in the 70s, i only ever saw one then , & and it was in the bike shop window, [ & we thot it was a Big bike then] never sold big up here, everybody ran two-strokes [ RDs&DTs GTs& TSs, KHs, while on this middle weight subject, does any body mind of the Z400 , , It was pathetic . poor seller, Why make such a bike when u had KH400, /500, Z650.?????
