Aye pat , the Z900 was finished , but wen trying to start it the Valve timing shifted , hauled the head off, and timing chain guide/ tensioner . and idler were all fucked, thats why it was in a box, so rebuild is on , two bent valves too . Any way the Zl iliminator is tidy mines is in Red, thats a demo [ black] in picture.

Mick " read the carb page slowly & more than once, so you have a mental picture before you start. the air box rubbers are usualy the niggly bit, then the cables, if its the push pull method, if you take them of in a bank,[altogether] , use the correct size of screwdriver , hold it tight into the carb bowl screws, or you"l round them, dont get hurried, take a break if you get frustrated with summat, go on you tube search carb refurb,,,watch an memorize,,

Mick" thats an easy fix,,,get a manual, the bottoms of carbs comes off,, and clean the float needle valve, go on you"l get more satisfaction fixing it yoursell .

Welcome peter. " that pinging & knocking is Detonation , this will result in a holed piston . timing , or fuel [ high octane] is usualy the problem,, or carbon on top of piston, glows and pre-ignites before piston is at top of stroke, as you can imagine ,if bang is early, its hell on piston, , Start with decoke, then check fywheel marks,, as Dt 400 is CDI. it still needs to be timed.. a dial gauge is needed, set to degree ,Before TDC , thats wen pointer lines up with pulser coil , oh spark plug shoulf be B9ES ,,,,

Yeh matt , sounds cheap ,,, about £180 for a decent pair of tyres,, no point gettin them of ebay, as fitter will sting you, and hastle if you need to return if defective,,
