It was high level on dpstick, probably due to the over fueling issue, that bang earlyier on post was fuel in exhaust, so possible filled sump with fuel too,,,

Hi chas " its caused by unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust, have you removed the baffle"s,, as this effects back presure,

Yip . i know what you mean , restorations are worse, as you need to replace most rusty or knackered parts, every cuboard and drawers are full of spare parts, ,, the cost, never count , as is a hobby, ,, jut like the golfer pays his yearly fees etc, Just be glad we can , as some day we wont be fit to ride the bikes,

Asda do 1 ltre of 2stroke= £5.99. its that carlube ,,[ made in lancashire] it good stuuff. i"v done thousands o miles on the triple, by the way, i bought a TS250[1972] engine at stafford last week, Wipped head off " standard bore, ,, some oil in crank case, ,,tips it out, = 2stroke oil, mm ,,, today i bolted it in the 1974TS, and fired up after 4 kicks,,, gonna giv it a run tmmorow, my other engine mains and seals are gone , so will refurb over winter, -

Mark" what a job you make, i like the XT500C, coz its the first one i saw in 1977, my mate bought it him being 17, we wern"t able to start it, he eventualy did, that was the non sight glass model, i bought an XT at stafford for another mate , , that was the first time i rode one,[ last friday] there torquee motors, Some day am gonna have one,
