FZ600 Starting Problem
Had to break down and take the bike to the dealer for repair. Fouled plugs was the diagnosis. Apparently the FZ6 should not be started unless it is going to be ridden or at minimum allowed to reach normal operating temp before turning it off. Seems unusually easy to foul plugs. We'll see how it goes.

FZ6 Questions...
Andy, Don't know if you bought that FZ6 yet. I just joined the forum and have been going through different posts. I've ridden many different bikes over the years (85 Kaw Vulcan 700, 84 Honda Magna V65 and the Saber V65, 82 Yamaha Maxim 750, 02 Yamaha R* 1600 and a 07 Yamaha FZ6). I put a lot of miles on a bike every year, the R* has 72,000 miles and the FZ6 has 20,000 this year (a record for me). I love the FZ6, except for being chain drive, first one for me and requires maint. where belt and shaft are basically maint. free. The FZ6 has great power and handles very well in traffic, most of my miles are commuting. For a first street bike it will be something you can handle easily and will be able to take you to triple digit speed as experience allows with no problem, 123 mph at 10,000 rmp in 6th gear, red-line is 14,000 rpm. Good luck and keep it between the ditches. Ed3

FZ600 Starting Problem
Battery is 19.6 volts. Today its now 65 degrees F (19 degrees C). No change, hit the starter button and the starter turns the engine but it just won't turn over and run.

FZ600 Starting Problem
I made the dual low beam mod to my 2007 FZ6 on 12/31/07, 1yr anniversary of purchase. Its got 20,025 miles and has run flawlessly since purchase. I started the bike after the mod and everything was fine. Temps in the teens kept me from riding the rest of the week. Yesterday, 1/5/08 suited up for a ride to check out the night time improvement of the mod and the bike would not start. Turn the ignition to run, it goes through the diagnostic fine, hit the starter button and the engine tries to start but never really turns over. Checked gas, battery, fuses, eng stop switch is in the run position. Anyone had a similar problem?

yamaha 600 fazer
Same problem here with my 07'. Same adjustment of setting the idle of a warmed up engine to 1200 - 1300 rpm or so corrected cold running issue.
