Stuttering, now running rich and stalling
Hi don't start messing around with settings on your carbs untill you have cleaned them out properly,it sounds like the choke's are sticking thats why it starts from cold ok but as soon as it warms up it wont tick over, Best thing to do would be to empty the tank and fill with clean fuel, remove the carbs check the chokes and clean out the float bowls. Then fire it up and take it for a good run and see how it goes, but dont change any of the settings untill you have used a tank full of fuel, by then you should have cleaned out any residue left in the carbs. From the sound of things it was your coils that were causing the problem in the first place and the other things that you did have only made things worse as it was running fine before?

oh man i got lapped by a turtle
Hi there, sounds very much like either your choke is stuck on or your float in your carb is stuck due either to there being dirt sticking the needle open or your float has become stuck? Your plugs should be a light brown or tan colour if it is running properly, black indicates that it is getting far to much fuel, First check your choke then try tapping the float bowl with the ignition on to see if that stops your fuel pump clicking,if not you will need to remove the carb and strip and clean it!

XVS650 restricter removal
Hi there, It's all a bit hit and miss really it really depends on where the restricter is, wether it is on the inlet side or in the exhaust side. either way you can remove it and your bike might run better without any mods at all or you may need to upjet your carbs ! its all a bit trail and error really because all bikes run slightly differently and what works on one wont always work the same on another?

Coolant queries YZ426
Hi there Basiclly there is no difference between coolent's made for cars -bikes if you check the products you will see that they are identical, most of the newer ones are long life premixed coolents that don't need diluting the only thing that you really have to check depending on your bike is to make sure that it is compatible for your type of engine ie alloy, steel or cast iron?

TZR125R 4DL 4FU00 gaskets.
Hi there, being as this is the generator side of your motor and shouldn't have any liquid in there anyway it doesn't need to be oil tight or gas tight so it is not a problem !! if it really bothers you just put a bit of instant gasket in the gap to fill the hole?

Bike Keeps Overheating Can Anyone Help? PLZ
Hi mate , the first thing i would check would be the temperatue sensor that makes the fan cut in! the thermostat only regulates at what temp the water starts circulating its the temp sensor that regulates when the fan cuts in, if it is covered in crap or faulty then it wont work properly ! Hope this cools you down?

Intake design
Hi fitting pods is a bit like playing the lottery? sometimes you can fit them and not need any adjustments other times you need loads ! First of all fit the pods and fire you bike up and see how it is running, you might just need to adjust the mixture screws and make it a bit richer ( as fitting pods is increaseing the air flow ) if adjusting the mixture is ok at the lower end ie tickover and up to about 1/3 throttle but higher up is doing nothing then you will need to fit bigger main jets usually 10% bigger and you may even need to raise the needles up one notch ? its all a bit trail and error really what will work well on one bike may not work as well on another? Hope this helps Good luck

fz750
HI as far as i am aware the front calipers off a Exup 1000 will fit straight on just measure the distance between the mounting holes! if it's 100mm then they will fit straight on. but if you have a bit of spare cash and want to improve the braking even more a set of blue spot calipers off a R6 will also fit straight on ( E-bay around £60-£90 )or if your a bit flush a set of gold spot calipers will also fit . Its all up to you and your bank balance Hope this helps.

yzf750 still flat spot
Hi if the carbs are clean and you have checked that the emulsion tubes are clear and the main jets are also clean and the right size check your needle position and try moving the clip down or up one position from where it is now.

xj600 starting problems
Hi first make sure that you are getting fuel to your carbs,Turn your fuel off drain your float bowls then turn your fuel back on and see if petrol is coming out the drain screws that you have just removed,if the answear is yes then remove the plugs and fit them into the plug leads and one at a time earth them out to the head and turn the motor over and see if they spark (remembering to make sure the plugs are good and useing something insulated to hold the plug to the head) If one or two plugs are not fireing then chances are one of your coils is duff ! if all of the plugs are not sparking it is extremly unlikely that both coils are gone and i would next check to make sure that your kill switch has not earthed out or that there is not a problem with one of the coil pick ups? If all these check out then it is your CDI/Ignition module. If at all possible try and borrow and swap any parts that you think might be duff from a running /donar bike before spending lots of money on parts like coils, pick ups and ignition module's hope this helps regards Billa65t

Faukty indicators
Hi Felix, I presume that you have checked the bulb in the indicator that is not working and that the connection is not corroded? if these are fine make sure that the wire going from the connection to the bulb is ok by running a wire from the connecton to the bulb just to see if this rectify's the problem . If not there is no reason why you can not connect the ground wires for both the front indicators together without causing any problems .

Petrol tank repair
Hi Muffeeta, your options are 1 draining the tank and pressurizing it with compresed air to try and push the dent out (dangerous and have never seen it work succesfully before) 2 cutting open the tank along the seem knocking the dent out and welding up the tank again and respraying (expensive and time consuming, but works ) 3 just filling the dent and respraying ,works as well)? or 4 trying to get another tank the same colour and just swapping them over? 5 just learning to live with it !!! hope this helps as these are really the only options Cheers Bill

1992 SR125 power problem
Hi Pete, the first thing to check would be to make sure that your fuel tap is clear? try removing the pipe from the carb and turning the fuel on and see if you get a steady flow from the pipe? if so reconnect to the carb and drain the float bowl on the bottom of the carb and see if there is any dirt or water in the fuel? If these are both ok next change the spark pulg and also check the plug lead to see if that cures the problem if non of these have any effect the next step would be to change the coil as these can break down when hot. this should be your first course of action as all of these things are quite easy and inexpensive to carry out even if you have little mechanical experiance. good luck Bill
