    what bike>?
  3. oops also in pic is a bmx bike peg with race bolted to it to use to start bearing in place, its to hard to use a drift more to align before clamp is used.
  4. you might try this, section of thread rods , assorted washers and old race used in place of the drift, I heated the head a little and put the bearings in the freezer overnight. then used thread rod to clamp it in.

well pass on the bike , odd are a tornado will get ya, or lightning, car wreck, cancer , take your pic. At 52 now ive ridden since 13 yrs old, been down a few times mostly on dirt but once on the street , all when I was young. If I had any advice to give id say dont ever tail gate, I see it all the time, bounce off the back bumper once if you live youll learn. Id stay away from statistics , if you look at everything statistically you go nuts & sit in a padded room.

dab it with your fingers , itll tack fairly quick, yamabonds great stuff. I use a small paint brush. Im not sure of your motor but some install upsidedown easier, that way you dont have to hold crank to pin holes.

chose an xs 650 3 times. cm/cbT 400 once, the honda 400 t is a pain to work on engine once split the xs is easy. lots of extra parts upgrades and nos stuff layin around, best way to build a low cost chop LCC. do some research find out what bike in your area/country was popular acess of parts and available upgrades ig, exhaust ect. then build it.
  10. is your battery charging? check fuses & block first then be sure your batterys charged, charge it fully try again if it starts you may have a charging issue.

thanks , heres some updates, its almost done cept for coils and tail lite she's wired, seat is next .
  15. Id prob agree with the mechanic, however if the heads fine you may just have some bugs, pay attention to torque settings on head,& remember they get hot they crack, or they just crack. good luck.

  17. jeepurz replied to Runningdog's post in a topic in Classics
I believe it can, im not up on the dt, but you should be able to slide out the shift shaft by removing side case, then pry out the old and put in new, maybe someone else would chime in on this to double check.

nope that 850 should walk all over the virago.
  19. i cut an allen so it was straight, then found correct socket to fit it, (the allen wrench) put fork leg in vice, hit impact wrench, itll come right out, I made a tool to pop the seal it was easy , but DO Not pry on cast leg put a rag wood shim under it before you pry, If you dont have an impact cut a peice of pvc 1 inch thickness bout 3 feet long, cut a 45 angle tap it into fork gently 45 angle down after youve removed cap and springs, then try to use the allen on a socket wrench, I believe the allens on your bike are recessed in the legs bottom which is why i cut the allen wrench. Christ this prob doesnt make sense!! new seal I put in frig overnight, heat slightly the leg , remove seal from frig , push it in, and go drink beer. hope this helps.

looks the same as 650, green should be pos brush from stator , should go to volt reg. (metal box) balck neg ground. rectifier is finned, with 3 white wires, go 3 white from stator 3 white rectifier , the diag I posted should be right, blue outa stator should be neutral switch not needed, yellow should not be needed. google xs chopper wiring diag, then click image, theres tons of ways to do it, one fuse two fuse ect. elct start or kick only,
  23. jeepurz replied to 78special's post in a topic in Classics
once youve figured out the charging system and keypad, youll prob need 3 to 4 wires along backbone to front of bike, & that depends on switch layout. coils, horn , headlight, youve got instruments? want them lit? need signals? I hate to give advice on a bike im not sure of . your red from stator should go VR.
  24. jeepurz replied to 78special's post in a topic in Classics
youll need reg/ rec im not sure on yours if its separate or together, but you can prob follow diag this is xs 650 im trying to find a chop wiring diag. what youll need out of the stator is 3 whites, one black - brush, ground to frame and one green, the green should go to voltage reg , there may be a yellow too if its like the xs cap it. look at diag, check your wire colors if there the same you should be able to adapt that drawing to the 400. youll need two fuses, get a lawnmower ig. I just used a toggle no key, what are you seeing when you say rect isnt hooked up, 4 wires or five? are there three whites or three yellow coming from it?? I posted over on chopperunderground for a complete chopper wiring diag, if someone post it ill post it here.

hey when you did yours, did you use the 76 rotor? I tried mine with two 76 model rotors and then two 78 rotors then finally the xs 11 rotors which required no shimms. the first two option were way off. Are the 76 rotors the deep dish on the euro models? thanks.
