the stalling is to do with your clutch bite not the chain being to tight. you should aim for 30mm - 50mm of play in the chain. if the clutch isnt adjusted properly you will find the clutch is biting then when you kick into gear if there isnt loads of slack the engine will stall like it has been. you need to wind the handle bar adjuster out till it stops or adjust the clutch engine side, not a difficult job. The chain guard is there to protect the chain and swing arm from eachother. you can pick one up from any dealers for next to nothing as its a disposible part that should be checked and replaced offen. folow the st piping down to the engine case it should go in behind a cover. open this up and have a look. should really explain itself once youve looked. ive never worked on a dtr but all the 2t's ove worked on have setups that work along the same lines.

not trying to defend tincan users in any way but in our focus to put the rear fog light on you have to pull the light switch out 1st click is fron second is front and rear. there is no option for rear on its own. and yesterday i did have the rear on cos it was f'kin it down on the m25 and i like the rear of my car to stay as it is!
