  1. I sorted getting the lower cup off. Thanks for that. I messed up the new bearing though trying to drift it on. I slipped and wrecked the cage lol, so I have to get another one. Bugga. I think my best bet is a tube just bigger than the shaft, that fits nice against the inner race of the taper roller bearing and hit that. The old one was mega tight to get off, so I assume the new one will be as much of a pig. So, it is worth chilling the stem and heating the bearing? Will any damage be cause to the bearing by hotting it up? Any idea what the outer diameter of the steering stem is so I can try and find a piece of suitable tubing to use to drift it on with? Ideally, i could do with a press to slide it on, but sadly I dont have one lol. The seal will not go back on. The new bearings are a different size to the ball bearings that were on. So, Im just going to pack well with grease. Is that an ok thing to do?
  2. I have removed the roller bearing races and cups that were on the bike. They came out the headstock with little persuasion, and new ones went in with little drama. Im stuck though. This image is of the fork assembly as it was removed from the bike, minus the bearing (roller). I assume the bit remainling on the centre shaft is the race (the pic is looking at it from the back) and that it has to be removed? What is the best way to remove it? What do I do with the seal that is on this pic? Does it go back on? I should add that the replacements are tapered roller bearings. Many thanks indeed for any and all help. It is appreciated.

In the UK, it is a requirement to have provision on your Insurance for carrying a pillion. From your flag, it appears you are not in the UK, so check your local laws just in case.

If I wore flares, I would have them over my boots. As I wear normal cut Jeans, and due to the nature of bike boots being on the bulky side, I have no choice but to have them on the inside. I must say though that its very VERY rare I ride in jeans. 99 times out of 100, I have leathers on, which again go inside my boots.

Mine are gone. They started to "crack" over bumps, so I tightened them slightly. They not have a notch in the straight ahead position. Now, any suggestions what to get? I will get taper roller bearings, but what make? I have found some suppplied by Pyramid Parts. They ghave been around 35 years, and supply bearings for most every bike. They are £19.99 for upper and lower bearings and races. Should I go for them, or pay much more for Genuine Yam ones?

Sorted. I ordered from [email protected]. They arrived yesterday, and they are awesome! I got YZF, several YAMAHA and R6 decals. I chose white, with contrasting color being Chrome. So the 6 is Chrome, as is the background on the YZF decals. They are brilliant quality, and a good price. as for the graphics, I have sourced a relatively local outfit. The Image Works. Contact Graham there on 0115 944 3111 or visit www.the-image-works-.co.uk. Email [email protected]. The Image Works, Block 4, merlin Way, Quarry Hill Industrial Estate, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. DE7 4RA. Tell him Neil/TazR6 recommended you to contact him. he will sort you out. They will do anything at all, and have a huge amount of colors etc. So if you need vinyl for anything at all, look no further.

They are certainly different. Seen a couple out and about, but I must admit I am not overly keen. I cant see them being legal either, as the plate dimensions are way too small. Will end up costing a lot more if you get stopped, what with getting a £30 fixed penalty. I would look into the legalities of it, unless you can afford to keep paying £30 lol!

Just got back from Matlock. Had an adrenaline fueled ride there and back. It was an awesome ride in both directions, and Matlock itself was extra busy (spolied a bit by LOADS of Harleys), but the trip up there was marred. As I got on to the A610, at about (the speed I was going) I felt something hit my back, then I caught a glimpse of something flying through the air. I pulled over, and found that my single seat unit had blown off! I couldnt see it anywhere. So, after a 1/4 mile walk down the bypass, I walked back up the central reservation, and I found it lying at the edge of the outer lane on the opposite carriageway! Its not looking very healthy anymore, but not as bad as i thought it would be. Its a damn good job Im getting it resprayed. I had got some stuff out from under it before setting off, so I obviously failed to make sure it was on properly. It obviously wasnt. Lesson learned there!

Can anyone suggest anywhere (Im in Nottingham) I can get some decals from for my bike? I have got the "YAMAHA" and "R6" ones sourced, but cant find any for the seat cowling (the "swoosh" that goes from the seat backwards) as seen on this picture; I am getting quite a lot of paintwork done, and need replacement decals. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a link to the one you got? There are a couple of models. Im thinking about one for mine too. How loud is loud? 50% louder than standard? 100%? 200%? Do they sound like proper air horns?

  23. Great bikes. One of the soul remaining 80s 2 stroke 125s! I want an old one as a second bike, for bad/wet weather riding. Good choice, cool bike. Enjoy.

Many thanks for that ShoKz. Good of you to comment. Here is a pic of the clocks with the blue LED backliting. My camera is total pants for taking pics in the dark. The tacho is barelky visible on it, but you get the gist. I will try and get a vid, mainly of the sound she makes. It makes the hairs on my arms stand on end. I will see if I can get a sound recording of a drive by and a pull off or something.
