Which GP race to attend?
I love riding my bike, I love riding my bike long distance. I love experiencing motorsport races live. I have been to an F1 race on my bike every year since 1998, Monaco, Spa, Silverstone. Me and a bunch of friends are off to Monza in Sept 2008, to witness the F1 circus at speed. The race is just the cherry, the trip is the cake underneath it. I know it will seem 'off GP piste' but..... if you want to ride your bike and witness a motorsport spectacle, I happily invite you to join us. Think about it. Daiv

R6 as first bike! Am i mad!
The R6 has two personalities. Personality 1. It is happy to cruise at the legal speed limit and is comfortable when used as a commute vehicle. Personality 2. If you allow it to enter the higher rev range, typically near the 10,000 region, it will request permission to fly and such a request is hard to deny from such a willing individual. If you do allow the beast to run free, it's your duty to ensure it does so in the right place at the right time. Don't ever race the others, simply because you can!

Monza 2008
Glad to hear of your interest. I bought my ticket over the internet, 3 day General Admission. Just entrance, no sleep options included. My best mate lives in Besancon, eastern France. That will be the first planned stop-over. Tents will be overhead cover thereafter, or any hotels we can get.

Monza 2008
Further to my 'Any F1 fans...' thread ... I have bought my tickets for the F1 race at Monza in September 2008. If anyone here is interested in a ride to Italy next September, you're welcome to join me.

Any F1 fans here?
Daily ... to work ... I do about 30 miles there and back. I once rode up from London to Kendal ... and then back again the same day. The furthest I have ridden is to Monaco, on my old Monster 600. Just for the record ... I have bought my entrance tickets for the Monza F1 Grand Prix in September 2008. If anyone reading this here, is interested to join in on the the trip ... you are most welcome. Hence ... I will be going.

Any F1 fans here?
MarkandJen A trip to Monza only needs your enthusiasm. It isn't bothered with your history of bike ownership or biking experience. It's a real experience getting on your bike and heading into Europe. Attending an F1 race won't disappoint you either, I guarantee it.

Reality Check About Riding Motocycles
I am a firm believer that a loud bike can alert other road users of your presence. Ambulances have sirens for the same reason. The licence test necessary to drive on the road in a car, should include a Compulsory Basic Training session on a bike.

The trip to Monza will be awesome in itself. Experiencing the race there will be icing on the cake. I look forward to riding with you.

When people point
A passenger in a van just stared at me today. I read his gaze as ... 'I must get one of those'.

What's in your guitar rack?
Dear Mick_Nev I simply see a connection between musicians and fast vehicles. Sorry if the Thread appeared illplaced, but you yourself seem to be similarly connected if you truly own the instruments you list. If I did have a Ferrari myself, I wouldn't only drive it on weekends.

Any F1 fans here?
My bike serves two purposes. . . 1) To get me to work everyday where I earn the necessary £'s to 2) Take a trip to Europe on the bike each year. F1 races are great destinations to aim for. Having done Spa 3 times, Monaco once and Magny Cours 5 times... MONZA is my 2008 destination of choice. F1 on telly is wasted. Only when you witness them live, do you get a true appreciation for the sport. Actually, it's the fans at the race circuit who really create the atmosphere. Typical Sunday afternoon F1 TV fans never experience the support races, driver parade or air shows. The Monza F1 race is in September 2008. If any of you are keen to consider doing the trip, mail me. A 3 day General Admission ticket currently sells at Euros-88.

When people point
I was waiting at some lights yesterday when a bloke yelled at me from across the road ... 'Is that an R6 mate'? I nodded Yes. For a full minute he yelled to me saying ... 'I have *£$% and it's (!"$£ 1976. I bought it %^£$ *&"$ and *!&%!' etc etc. I couldn't really hear him because he was across the road and I had my helmet on and cars either side of me. Nice of him to acknowledge my machine though.

When people point
When People Point .... My Black R6 generates much pointing and visual admiration as I pass by people on the street, in their cars, on the bus .... What's the coolest, least arrogant response to admirers like them? Nod, rev it, thumbs up, floor it, wheelie, ignore them.... ? How do you respond?

R6 in Winter time
Appreciate your advice R1Mad. I don't move unless it shows 40c.

R6 in Winter time
I use my R6 for work everyday. Some of my shifts demand a 4:30am departure. I am aware that one should always warm up the engine before setting off, but what's a decent temp to aim for? (a colleague has advised me that he once fatally damaged an R6 because he failed to warm it up and it's high rev nature caused an engine crack)! Any other winter riding advice also welcome.

My first Yamaha ... R6
Hello everyone. Yes, I'm another new member. Not only to this club but to the world of Yamaha motorcycles. I have owned 2 Ducati's previously. A Monster 600 Dark, purchased new in 1998 and a 2000 model 748, which I bought in January 2006. The 748 set fire to itself last month and has been rendered 'uneconomical' to repair. I test rode a 2005 model R6 yesterday and decided to buy it. Have I made a good choice?
