  1. Take a look at the Sealey website for the Sealey MPS2 Two Arm Centre Stand. Works really well on my 1300 Midnight Star. Much cheaper than a standard lift. You can use it to lift either the front or the back and it is rock solid.
  2. Yep I have the same whine. I don't know where it's coming from but as it's a new bike I am hoping that it reduces or at least when the first service is done, that the Yam mech tells me that it's normal.
  3. That's what I've found. Sadly it can't give us another gear between 1 and 3 which this bike sorely needs!
  4. The man in Greece appears to have these O2 sensor eliminators back in stock on EBay Item 260961310339 Let's hope they work. Bob
  5. 2011 bikes have completely chrome headlamp housing so it's probably 2009 or 2010 - and given the number of 2009 bikes around that's likely to be the answer. If you give the VIN to a decent Yamaha agent he will be able to look up the manufacture date. There's hardly any difference between pre and post 2011 models. The latter have the chrome lamp, the bars are slightly further pulled back, it has linked brakes and the seat is lower at 690mm instead of 715mm. I don't think any of these changes amount to much given the style of bike.
  6. With Alchemy out of business and the man in Greece not having any of these in stock, does anyone know where they can be obtained? I know they can be made up but not where the parts, especially the connectors, can be obtained. I am getting fed up with the lugging and need to do something about it. Thanks
  7. Don't black ones look sooooo good! what year model ?
  8. Just as a follow up to my original post. There is no date stamp on the headstock in the UK so the only way of telling the date of manufacture is to ask your local yamaha man to look up the VIN number. Like Fishy Pete I bought a new unregistered bike (2009 model) but mine cost me £100 more! Picture below and yes it does look great in black. Sissy bar/rack and screen extra of course. Now I'm sussing out luggage. Any recommendations? - but not yamaha hard panniers.

  10. This is the lock set sold by Yamaha and I need only one of the chrome ones for sissy bar or windscreen.
  11. Does anyone have a spare Yamaha sissy bar lock. Yamaha sell them in lock sets with 2 for sissy bar/windshield and 2 for luggage. I only need one for the sissy bar. Hopefully I can get keys cut if I have the lock number.
  12. Many thanks Graham. I think the possibly is apt as the Yam site shows a blue also in 2010 but it's a start. I have also just found a post on the 1300 US site that says that there is a date tag below the VIN on the headstock. Someone confirmed that theirs said 12/06 which is correct so I'll be looking there also. thanks again.
  13. I'm thinking about buying a used 2010 bike but need to know how to identify the model year easily as there seem to be quite a few 2009-2011 unregistered bikes out there. Any pointers you can give me would be useful e.g. which colours belong to each year or even better is there a year stamp anywhere (although this would be way to easy). Thanks
