the V star 1300 rocks
My 1300 is my daily driver or rider I should say. It has been flawless for the last 6 months. This big bike is smooth, wide, low and VERY stable. The 45mpg is pretty good too. As far as power, I think it should have more but is uses the power it has very well up to about 80mph. I suppose I crave the acceleration of the R6 but not the comfort. I would have sprung for the warrior if it had of been liquid cooled. I can't ride in Houston traffic without liquid cooling. As it is, there is only a handfull of HD's can can keep up. I haven't ridden the 1100 so I would probalby be disapointed with the power. At any rate, once she is paid off, I will throw down for pipes, air cleaner and a programmer to wake her up a bit. I have read that you can squeeze out another 20-25 hp out of her and that would really make it fun.

My only complaint is that I keep hammering the foot pads on the street while cornering. I keep having to tell myself, "Easy boy, it is a cruiser after all."

I think that you mean, geared real high? Mine lugs in 5th at 60mph. I wouldn't mind if it had a bit lower gears.

2007 V-Star Forum
Yes, I understand your concern as I too have a 2007 V-Star 1300 and have been trying to decide if I was willing to pay for the valve adjustment. My buddy who rides Yam. said that his dealer told him that you don't really need to get that done unless you suspect or hear the valves. I am about to hit the 600 mile mark where Yam. says you need to have the valves adjusted but paying for it dosen't sound like something I want to do. In this day of technology, it seems obsurd to me.

All of these bikes are wannabee Harleys
Wannabee Harley's....well perhaps the styling came from the Harleys many years ago but the technology, dependability, and quaility of the Star line far surpasses Harley now. I honestly wanted a Harley before I bought my V-Star 1300 and looked at the Dynaglide Lowrider really hard. It was practically the same bike as my V-Star, had less power, poorer brakes, and just felt lower in quality. I probalby still would have gotten the HD if the prices were somewhat competitive but really, if you want to pay $7K more for an inferior bike just because it has a name on it, then I suppose that you also would by designer t-shirts for twice the price just so you can look cool. I like the Harley name, I like what it is about, I have been riding since I was 8 years old, I have been to the rallies and such, but I just couldn't be that dumb with my money.
