Fork cones
I managed to put them on, but they hold on to the fork with just one small bit of double sided tape, will not bother with a refund but will replace them shortly with something a bit more decent. cheers Joe

cleaning spokes
Did not cross my mind to clean with WD40 will try that, so far I have only touched them with a dry cloth nothing else but some friends told me to use wire wool which sounded wrong to me ( thanks god) we don't really have road Salt issues here in Malta, nor do I ride in wet weather ( just to keep the bike clean) again it does not rain as much here, but still the spokes get so dirty and they still loose the plated surface as I have seen on other bikes. Will give it a shot with WD40 this evening. cheers Joe

Bobbitch thanks, regret they don't ship outside the UK, in fact when I needed the saddle bags I had to go via third parties.

info re original Star Yamaha accessories
Anyone can advise on good on-line shops that sell original Star Yamaha chrome accessories for the 650 classic. I always tend to get from the US but now with the Dollar Vs Euro and with the UK Vat going to 15% I think I will have to reconsider

XVS 650 Exhaust Advice Needed
thanks saw it read it but too complicated for me, I guess my mechanic who charged through my nose will have to sort out, albeit i did increase the idle rev a bit and it feels much better.

dragstar- handlebar issue- .. i think
you can get pull back risers for any size in fact I need a 1inch riser and 1inch pullback eventually, suggest you measure cables etc before you decide in case you don't get enough pullback. There are also various sized bars but I still think you would need risers. Joe

XVS 650 Exhaust Advice Needed
i did some good riding over the weekend, they are bloody loud, ye did find the baffles, I am not touching unless someone tells me how to put in something better to quiet them down, according to my OH I have f....up the bike hehe Performace wise I am not happy either after rejetting and putting on the HC the bike seems faster on acceleration but have to shift more frequent, doesn't feel like a cruiser anymore......and yes the vibration is another killer although now at least I am not feeling the terrible vibration on reaching 100k ( kilometers) now it is vibrating all along heheh Cheers

Exhaust Pipes
I have just installed teh Cruzers, a bit too loud for my liking but I believe the Straighshots are louder, they have a fantastic rumble on idle but as intimated I wanted something less noisy I think the best bet if at all possible is to listen to one that is already installed, it is only then that you know if it's the right level for your taste. V&H Cruzer and HC installation update
Ok here goes my update…… V&H Cruzers installed, together with Kuryakyn HC, As advised by MagEurope who are the European distributors and also some correspondence with Cruiser Ecosse I opted for the 31501 model as they recommended which is listed as 49 states up to 2004 models, regrettable the bracket does not fit and my installer had to manufacture a completely new bracket. In short the 31505 is the correct model for the 2007 Classic. Pipes went in well not so happy with the hose clamps that tie in the heat shields as the bolts show from the bottom, pipes look ok but nothing compared to the originals. Now I need to solve the output which is just under my saddle bags Now for performance. The bark is loud much louder than expected, but has a deep rumble and on idle the sound is fantastic, Performance wise, seems the bike is faster but feels to have lost torque, not sure as I still need to do a good run and also test 2 up, the HC looks good but does rattle a bit, anyway overall great sound, good looking pipes but if I had to turn the clock back I would leave the originals on nor would I re-jet…… That is my two pennies worth of update. Cheers Joe

Replacement Exhaust advice
I have the V&H Cruzers but still in the box, but rejetting is recommended, I have heard the Highway hawk not too loud but I promised myself no more HW products as they rust and/or pit too quickly. The ones I saw were already blueing afer one year

Vance and Hines exhaust help
Nope they ride at the back, but sometimes they do get bored and give it one hell of a drag then they wait for us at the next corner hehe......it's rather difficult to pick up some speed here in Malta the Max I ever saw was 140Kph and only for a few minutes if not seconds....still I thoroghly enjoy my riding...........

Vance and Hines exhaust help
btw if you are a returning biker (70/80s) I am a complete newbie my first ever bike at the age of 46, It all happened March last year when I went to a birthday party and the host showed me his Shadow 750, I sat on it pretended to ride and told him OK I am getting a bike, took me 3 months to get the license and 2 months waiting for the bike to arrive hehe now I have around 3,000KM under my belt but I guess still reckoned as a novice......I ride with 3 Shadows, 2 Ninja's 1 R1, 1 Roadstar and 1 fatboy and I simply cannot hear my bike when riding with them

Vance and Hines exhaust help
No I will put them on the minute they arrive, but it will be a mechanic for me as I am not comfortable playing with pipes, although they do seem to be a simple fit. rejetting is not really my choice but everywhere I read seems to indicate the best thing to do with such pipes. My wife also says she can hear me turning round the corner coming back home but I still think they are not loud, albeit, the bike does seem to be getting a bit louder by time. Cruizercustomising have shipped but I am sure it will take at least 4 more weeks to arrive....will keep you posted. cheers
