OK, is it just me or does this forum have a large number of members who happen to be resident in Wales. There's alan and pete who live around there and I'm pretty sure that there's some from Cardiff too. Of course I'm not commenting on nationalities or owt just where they happen to be living at the moment.

Is it just me or does this forum have a lot of welsh members? Aye there's a fair few people from your neck of the woods and they'll be along in a minute I guess. I'm from the lakes but I was down that way a few months ago.

Foul-Mouther Banned!
Well I'm glad they're gone, eddy was obviously trying his hardest to get into an argument, and scrapey should have read through his posts first, I think his mouth engaged before his brain.
-
Foul-Mouther Banned!
Did scrapey get banned too? Some of his posts seem to have turned into 'guest'. Is there something wrong with me that I didn't care how many people that eddy irish guy had actually killed. I wasn't sure what the correct response should have been, I was wavering between 'congratulations' and 'oh that's nice'

riding in the rain.
I don't like riding in the hail because it feels like people are throwing things at you. Oh and I don't like it when I'm at the top of the M61 in a really stupidly heavy rainstorm when a nasty feeling tells me that somehow my flies are letting in water.

Fazer6....
That just sounds like too much hard work. I also get strange looks at the petrol station, either the "wow what a small guy, oh hang on it's a girl" or people look at me walking out the petrol station and expect me to be walking towards a scooter and get suprised when I walk over to me l'all fazer.

Fazer6....
Yeah I know, imagine all those cold days trying to turnover a stupid kickstart 125 I missed out on. Learnt on a CG125 and vowed never ever to touch anything kickstart ever again.

Fazer6....
I think I'm one of those strange people who missed the inbetween stage. I went straight from CBT to test and then had an SRX 400 and then got my fazer, so I've never really gone through the 2 stroke stage.

Fazer6....
Comfort isn't a state of mind when you're sitting on a honda seat, it's a lack of padding. Neither the Hornet or CBR seemed to have a lot of foam in their seats, not too sure why. I think now I've got used to the fazer bars I'd need flat ones if I ever upgraded to a proper sports bike. I suppose the riding position doesn't really suit me so well as my upper back around the shoulder aches after a while. Perhaps I was more nervous hopping on and off someone else's sports bikes all day but my men and motors thing really left me in pain. Apparantly the doctor says it's to do with not enough muscle and what little I have gets tired holding my back in the same position for a long time. One of my fazer buddies has an rd400 too, he says it'd be well suited for me but aparantly the power delivery's not as smooth as the fazer.

Fazer6....
When I was chosing my bike the SV650 was another possible, but the fazer had just had a make over so the SV in comparison was a wee bit tired. I mean the SV's a good bike but over here the fazer is so popular that aftermarket parts are easy to get hold of and being a yamaha it's quite reliable. I wonder why manufacturers have ignored the middleweight class over there then? Over here we've also got the kwak ZR7 which is a slightly sportier type bike but still can come into the middleweight class, I think it's changed a bit for this year but it's quite expensive compared to the other bikes. The bandit has an awful name and I would never want to be called an ar$e bandit, the hornet has an appalling tank range (120 miles if you're lucky). So yeah I guess we seem to have a few middleweights over here. There must be something different with the American biker mentality or how bikes are used over there that you don't have a decent middleweight class anymore. Has it split into cruiser and sports bike worlds with no-one in the middle cruising along on a sporty model. Big trailies are another alternative for those blessed with longer legs than me, and if I was taller and getting really serious about international touring that's what I'd look for. But I don't know how good they are on the twisties, I think the fazer being quite light is a more flickable bike. I tell you what if I do manage to do a central america trip in a few years I'll bung an extra fazer in the crate when I'm shipping my 6 and my boyfriends thou.

I suppose I had sort of presumed that if we had it then they must have done to. I guess it's like chocolate, they don't have cadburys but they have their own versions which we don't think are as good, but still do the same job. It is a shame they've only just started with the Eurofazer though, they've no benchmark to compare the TDM love child to. You know like the guardian are writing to american voters to tell them not to vote bush, well I think we should start a campaign telling the americans that the eurofazer isn't right and there is an alternative. Having said that it is growing on me a wee bit. Sorry there steve I kind of hijacked your thread.

The original or the eurofazer? They aint missing much if they don't have the eurofazer, I'm not so impressed, but if they didn't get the original and just have the eurofazer that's a bit disapointing. So what do you have over there for a similar sort of all round commuter/sports tourer then?

What would you give to have a 600 and a thou in the garage and an r1 in the sunroom? I'm not allowed to ride the r1 though as it has to get sold, and I can't get the thou off the side stand so I blatently can't ride that. Still my little beauty is coming up to 18 months old (so only 1 more payment left) and is going in for the 6k service on saturday. Planning a trip round Spain for next year, and I'll work my way up to doing central america on me fazer. How fantastic will that be. You can get a high mileage fazer that's been used for touring and commuting well cheap so you should just get one, I bet they're only about 1k ish and still good for a load more miles. The high mileage ones have been looked after better than the weekend warriers. Don't bother looking at that new euro fazer, stick with the real fazer. Go on, you know you want to.

Why have a dog and bark yourself? Now my other half manufactures kit cars for a living and streetfighters bikes and will do anything car/bike related. I can generally pass the spanner and do look interested and take in what's happening, but don't ask me to instinctively know which is the 1/2" or 1/4" drive, I mean why don't they put the size on them? I can also talk knowledgably about kit cars on the stand at shows, and so far have only been flumoxed by one question, I mean who cares about the dif ratio, it was a cosworth dif and that's all I needed to know, I think it might have been 4:1 though. Go on test me on something kit car related, I'm quite good on that stuff. At least I do admit what I don't know though and I'm not biaised by 'general' biker opinion or biker press into what actually is the best. Although I couldn't ever ride a hornet or a bandit though as that would just invite too much piss taking. Blatently the fazer is the best bike in the whole wide world and I don't know why they even sell different bikes. Oh and I can make a good cup of tea and bacon buttie too.

It looks like it'll be 9th December. I'm apparantly episode nr 8 and the programme listing shows episodes one and two being shown this month. Obviously being sky though they repeat things a few times. Oh and my mate Dave is also on an SP1, Firestorm and Gixer so look out for him too. They might show a bit of footage of him and his bike so I would like to appologise for his choice of colour. Oh yeah and my friend rob will be filmed later this month so I guess it'll look well wierd that suddenly a load of fazer owners are on the show. Still people drop out last minute and we're on hand to fill the gaps. He's old and an IAM observer so he might go for a Goldwing, ugly BMW and something else equally sensible. Well obviously I managed to get way loads of yamaha and fazer plugs in by pointing out what fantastic bike they are. I also managed to have a dig at the hooners and at all hondas in general. Can't remember if I had a specific dig at the fuel range of the hornet or if it was just a general hooner thing. So quite succesful all in all. Don't know how it'll all come together when they edit it but hopefully I won't come out as a numpty who knows nothing about bikes. I mean that's really quite true, but hopefully I'll manage to hide that.

Dynojet - Do-It-Yourself ?
Here's a how to guide for fitting a dynojet kit on the fazer thou so I guess armed with a haynes manual it'll be similar for the FZR. No idea how hard or easy it is but I would imagine that a lot of swearing will be involved but in the end it will actually be do-able.

Hi all
well you'll have to pop over then and say hi. It's a fazer owners christmas do but all bikers are welcome. at the forest of dean weekend a bandit came down with me from the north west and a hornet even dared to turn up for the day ride out. we're planning on renting the llanbedr youth hostel for a friday and saturday night so i'll let you know when we've finally chosen which weekend. There will most probably be a lot of merriment, drinking and eating, with some riding on the saturday if the weather holds out and if alcohol levels are low enough. you don't by any chance know any breweries in wales who see beer by the keg and rent out the tap and stuff to go with it? we had the idea that it might be cheaper than buying cans.
-
Hi all
Now you tell me. Bit late now aint it. well it's an annual event so i guess we could catch up next year. unless of course you fancy either a ride out or a beer with some fazer owners either the second or third weekend in january. if the weather's nice we'll have a wee pottle round barmouth, and sample some of the welsh roads. I presume this does qualify as a proper full weekend in wales then?

Hi all
OK so I stopped overnight in an enland but both the long and medium rides out were definatly in Wales. Look this is abergevenny bus station and builth wells (that's the place that sounds like welsh wales) the people on the long ride out even managed to find some sheep so that must have been in wales Is that enough proof for you that I was down in wales. I also have a photographic proof of the car park ticket I was forced to buy in nasty builth wells because they even charge for bikes :finger

Hi all
Hey anyone from wales was down a month or so ago in the forest of dean and had a lovely ride out around abergevenny and some place that sounded like welsh wales (sorry but when you're riding in a group you don't pay that much attention to sign posts, I just followed). I'm planning a wee jaunt in January for a load of fazer owners, we're going to have a christmas do around Barmouth if you fancy a frosty ride out. The roads should be clear of tourists and .

You lot from the RD_Forum
I've only seen a bit of what's been going on, but Ardon I think the reason people might not have taken action at the start is because they didn't link the name Ardon with you on this forum. I think a few people were confused by his comments and did atually ask who Ardon was. I know I was trying to look around for someone with the username ardon. Don't let anyone put you off posting in any forum and just ignore his posts if they're offensive. Obviously JMW's wound you up over in the RD forum and the best thing you can do is not to rise to it and have an actual argument. Surely he'll give in making comments if they fail to get a response. I don't know where you live but it's a lovely day up here so I'd recomend a trip over the Hartside road towards Alston, that can't fail to cheer you up! Oh and if you're lucky they might have started serving curry in the cafe.

I'm going to be on TV
I think the main benefit is that I now know the grass really aint greener on the other side. I'd been wondering what bike I'd get next, and what I could ride as an alternative bike. I blatently don't ride hard enough to need the extra performance from a sports bike, and I go on a lot of 200+ mile day trips out, so all in all I have chosen the best bike. Once it's out of warranty I can do things like getting a k&n air filter, sportier end can... I'm also going to get a gel pad in my seat and get it resprayed and other various cosmetic/comfort mods. I could do with a touch more torque sometimes especially as the blokes I ride with are mainly on litre bikes, but I do have the advantage that my engine isn't struggling to pull around a belly full of pies! Rain avoidance techniques eh? Sounds quite advanced, don't you have to be IAM for that?

I'm going to be on TV
The weather really didn't help trying sports bikes for the first time. When you can't get much of your foot on the floor you're very careful riding other people's bikes in the rain. But at least I didn't have to clean them afterwards. The R6 - well I had a bad example in that the frame was slightly bent, if you looked close you could see it was accident damaged (filler in the engine case, new subframe, fairings didn't quite fit..). Having said that I just felt I was sitting on the bike rather than in it, I've obviously been too used to the luxury of the fazer bars too as my wrists didn't like the riding position. But the seat was well comfy, very suprising for a sports bike. Oh and the gearbox was a lot smoother than the fazer but still a yam gearbox. Looks wise this certainly was the prettiest of the bunch, height and weight wise better suited to me too. CBR - Well what can you expect from a honda seat? I think they just got a bit of mdf and covered it in vinyl. Riding position was much improved on the R6, it did feel like a bigger bike when stationary, took 2 attempts to get off the sidestand. Moving it was quite nice really. Most of my day was spent following the camera crew in a van and doing some 'dummy overtakes' so in the rain I didn't really get to give any of the bikes some stick. I had one oops moment over a little petrol spill but nothing major. ZX6 - Comfier seat than the honda and the best riding position of the lot. It was a noticably bigger bike than the others. The gearbox was really smooth, very noticable after riding a yam. I was overall very suprised with all 3 bikes that the power was not really scary, I mean it's there if you want it and at lower revs it's not that different from my fazer. I don't think the brakes are as good as my fazer though, still in that weather I wasn't going to test that theory. To be brutally honest I don't think I need the extra performance that those bikes have to offer. I need to commute, go on long rides out and weekends away, and plan the odd trip abroad. None of them bikes would allow me to comfortably do all that. I'd need flat bars, perhaps more wind protection from the screen, a more upright riding position - hey sounds like a fazer to me. While I can only justify having 1 bike the fazer does it for me, I like my life, health and license too much for a sports bike. The riding position would be sustainable for long periods of time and my bike really does have more than enough power on the right roads. I don't know why sports bike riders do that too themselves, I mean they'll end up crippled. Still for the purposes of the TV I did choose a bike though. You'll have to wait and see which.
