My mate had a '99 model and I bought it of him when he went travelling, the intention was to pass it straight on but I ended up keeping it for 11 months cos I liked it so much! You can pick the early ones up reletively cheap now but watch out cos many of them have been raced!

Hello I believe you are correct about the training but it would be best to check it with a training school as the rules have changed a lot lately. Insurance will be pretty steep on an R6 though if your a new rider, some places may not even insure you.

My R1 is like a tank compared to the new ones and it doesn't stop me! :roll: And I'm a girl!

I use Dunlop 207 RR's F**king awesome on my R1! My mates all use them on theirs aswell. They get a big thumbs up. Ive done road and track riding with them and have always felt 100% confident in them, Cliffy uses them on his Gixer1000 too. I belive Dunlop are bringing out a 208 soon (if it's not already out) so I will probably try them next.
