Newbie here. Still riding my 76' XS360 street bike. Can't get it faster than 55mph but i still love it. Can you tell me what is the proper way of checking the oil? Should the bike be on the center-stand? You have to unscrew the oil stick. Should I unscrew, wipe the stick clean, rescrew back in, unscrew again to check the oil ??... I just need to be sure I'm doing this right. I'm afraid I'm a little low on oil. Oh and should I call a local shop for what type oil to use or can any of you here tell me? Thanks. Sophic
  2. ok....finally got all my starting problems solved. and new a new one pops up. as i release the cluch for 1st gear to engage you can feel take hold, but at a very slow, if not all 100% engagement (hoping this makes sense). What could it be? I did a search on this topic but could not find any info. Thanks. Robert'

Harv - The ignition coil works fine. It is where the wire meets the boot that's the problem. They seperate. The wire on the otherside does not. I'm wonder if there is a way I can make that boot keep a good connection to the wire...then I wouldn't have to replace anything. Comments??...Anyone?? Thanks.

Below is a pic of my spark plug wire that I need to replace. After I took the tank off I noticed it is connected to some other part (I simply just can't take the wire). Looks as if I need to replace whatever this tan thing is too. Anyone else replace a bad spark plug wire? This is a large photo (so you could see good). Might take a minute to load. Please help if you can. Thanks. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE ok I determined that this is an ignition coil. The plug wire can not be removed. The entire coil needs to be replaced. I did some searching and found this little guy new coil but it looks different. Anyway there you go...just in case anyone else has this problem. thanks.

I'm going to keep the plastic one. No need to change it out because I'll eventually get a new bike so I'll save my money Robert

After getting the bike to start (electric start) and driving it for a while. I shut the engine off and tried to kickstart it. Started right up like there was nothing wrong with it. So I dont know what happened. But I'm good to go. Thanks.

What happens if you leave this switch on prime? Is this bad? I left it on overnight. Also, if you watch your gas levels is it ok to leave this switch on reserve ?? Thanks.

Yesterday my kickstart worked just fine. Today you can not feel the gears engage. When you attempt to kick start it goes right to the floor with no resistance. I dont understand what this means. Anyone? Thanks.

hey again gang. my bike's front fender is made of plastic. do any of you know if they made a metal front fender?? I sure would like to get one. Because it's plastic, my front fender just looks ....well.....not part of the bike. Everything else is metal (except for the side plates).
