My xs250 is running a very sootty plug on one side. Starts first kick with no choke when cold and is a bit sluggish when hot. Hoping this is just a carb problem so will lowering the float do the trick or is it not that simple.

Could someone please tell me the valve clearences and points gap for my xs 250. I think it's an 83 model. Has the tail peace on the seat.
