  1. Why can't you just fit an oil cooler?

You could try ulta-sonic cleaning which will shake the dirt out. I would contact the makers to find out what they recommend.

Apart from buying a more appropriate bike, I would use NO2.

I would be very worried by this lack of coolant. Disappearing coolant is a very expensive sign.

It would depend on whether it was damaged or faulty. I suspect that you have impacted it on something, so no you will have to pay.
  6. I thought of clutch first but I really do think that your rear wheel is out of line.

Please stay on here Peabody, I like your totally incorrect postings.
  8. I lnow how to cut the accident rate of motorcyclists in half, globally. That is to ensure that all car drivers spend a year on two wheels and pass a test to show that they actually have ridden, before they are allowed a provisional car licence.
  9. I think that you have a fuelling problem. I suspect that it will be near the tank as you can run it for a few minutes so try cleaning the tank and petcock.
  10. Put a bigger engine in it.

If your on your own bike you just need to check your personal health ins. Your doctor will have forms for you for a health card. Your own bike ins will cover you for a 'holiday'. If you intend to hirer a bike abroad, hardly any company will insure you.

Hello and welcome. I suspect that the HT lead to the plug has broken down thus not firing that plug. Take the plug out and ground it to the engine and turn the engine over to see if it sparks.
  13. To answer the basic question, yes. To have a power commander fitted and set up for what you want ie power or torque and with a free flow air filter etc. is worth the money spent. You should also have the correct tyres to suit your riding and have the whole susphension revised and set up for your weight and style of riding. You cannot do one thing in isolation.

You might find it better to change the lever set completely. There are plenty on the market or do a search on the internet. Someone on here might have changed theirs so could help.
  15. You might want to put some fuel in it.
  16. Just to let all Harley lovers know that in 1945 after the end of the war in Europe, all around England big trenches were dug. This was to dispose of tens of thousands of HD bikes. This was because they had no use in Europe and to have them sent back to the USA would have ruined the motor bike industry there. So we have so many Harleys in England that we dont know what to do with them.
  17. That's nice for you, would you care to share it with us?

Just a short note to add to this thread. When doing a service to your bike in spring, short out the temperature sender to the fan and ensure that it starts and runs normally. You dont want to get stuck in traffic with a boiling engine.

The BT021 tyre (TYRE) is OK but ensure the correct tyre pressure.
  20. The coke on the plugs is probably due to the redex. The engine needs to be run for a while on fresh fuel before you try to fix it.
  21. Pleased to be able to help.

I would stick to a .25 bore out if you need to do it. When you bore out, you are actually reducing the compression ratio unless you have the head skimmed. It is very improtant to have the valves lapped in for good gas seal otherwise you will lose power. You will probably have more luck honing the barrels to stop oil consumption than needing new rings but that is an inspection matter. Ensure that the carbs are set up correctly.

    Aptly named then?!!!
  24. I've been away moving boats for a while, so just found this thread. Having lived in the Florida Keys, I can reccomend biking there, if you like it flat and hot. Suited me! If you want some change in weather and scenary go North to Gorgia and Alabama. I find it fasinating how the Americans try to create their history on a daily basis.

Pleased to see that you like leather.
