  1. Hi owing to the eclectic mix of bikes I own I am a member of both the Suzuki and Kwasaki forums ( http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/index.php ) but I have found the Yamaha one the most active friendly and helpful. If you find a kwak one that is similar let me know.

Whoo hoo! Hope to get my kwak on the road this month - it's only been a year!!!

Good for you VO5 ! As they say - now the learning starts! Just remember ride for yourself, within your own abilities and ignore the Power Rangers that come out on a sunny Sunday! You're not a 'proper' biker until you've been soaked to the skin and got frostbite from the windchill in February!
  5. Hi everybody Just to let you know if you are in the Kent & Sussex area these guys are running a charity 'pub chase' on the 17th of this month - details from their website: http://www.mums-on-bikes.com/index.php?f=d...y_event&a=0 The good cause is SERV (Bloodrunners) http://www.serv.org.uk/Home/Default.aspx Get your self some sponsors and hope to see you on the 17th! :D :D

Hi - don't if you will get this but we may well go down to H's this eve - round about 7:30 if you are there we will be the motley crew with the beautiful paint jobs on the bikes - mines turquoise!!!

Good one! I agree with the other guys - just ride for yourself and enjoy!

Hi Thanks for the reply - yes sometimes go out to H's - will check with the other guys for wednesday and let you know.
  9. Hi If you need dimensions I can measure the parts on my YB and you can check them against the FS1E ones. From memory the rear brake switch is the same but I could speak for the other parts - keep looking on fleabay YB parts do come up from time to time. Good luck
  10. Hi Maybe way off base here - but I had a similar problem with a car - have you checked your cylinder compressions? If they are low you may be getting 'blow by' where the compressed air/gas mixture blows by the piston rings and builds up pressure in the crankcase - thus forcing oil out of the breather tube. Just an idea - you did say you had only recently got the bike, so you don't know the history. It also may explain the 'hard to start' problem. Good luck.
  11. Would love to come, but just a little far for the ring ding dingers! Have a good one!

Hi there's a bunch of us over in Ashford who regularly ride out at the weekends and some evenings - always looking for other people to meet up with - drop us a line.

Thanks, done all that but the bolt is too long and only got about 1" in. Any other ideas?

..........................OK update to the Divvy problem. Decided it was easier to fit new engine - so duly picked one up and started to take the old one out........nearly there only the rear engine mount bolt to remove.........4 hours later and it still wont budge - I've tried every tool in my arsenal, mullered both ends, and I can't get it to do anything. Any of you guys got any ideas coz I'm clean out of them at the moment!
  15. Put in my X and will forward to every biker I know. Judging by the state of the roads - I have had to replace 2 tyres in 2 months - I reckon I'm owed a rebate!!!!

Hi Just a post hoping that one of you guys (or girls) can give me any tips - I have to dismantle my friends 600 Divvy to replace a bearing - I think it is the driveshaft bearing - but he is going to check with the garage that did the service) - Are there any tips or useful pieces of advice on doing the job? The Haynes manual is a bit rubbish - not one decent 'explosion' diagram on the engine! Wish me luck.......
  17. Sounds like a carb problem - probably some crap in the bottom of the tank has blocked a jet or two - this can happen if you run a bike on reserve - all the rubbish collects in the bottom of the tank. It is worth fitting an 'in-line' filter to help prevent this. You should dismantle the carb clean out any rubbish you find - blow out the jets etc with compressed air - one of those aerosol cans should do the trick - but don't use wire or anything that would enlarge any of the holes. reassemble and try again. If you are worried about petrol getting into the engine take out the oil dipstick and check for the smell of petrol - if it does you should drain the oil and replace with fresh oil and a new filter. If there is no petrol in the engine the smell could be caused by a stuck float valve in the carb causing it to overflow. You should also check for a spark at the plug - remember you need 3 things to get the bike started: Petrol Spark Compression If you have all three it should run. Good luck

Sorry to hear that, glad you got it back - scumbags! Was it OK? Had my YB stolen about 4 years ago, only the hoodies decided that complete redecoration with a match was required! Anyway bike has been completely restored and on the road for over a year now, but if I could get my hands on the little toerags...... Well you know what I mean.
  20. Hi and welcome to the forum How handy are you with a voltmeter? You need to check if this is a HT (high tension) or LT (low tension) circuit problem. As you are not getting a spark I would start with the LT side - I am assuming that it has a CDI unit rather than points? If so you will need to trace the wiring back from the coil(s) to the cd unit, and test with the ignition on if you get voltage in either of the wires, you may need to turn the engine over. If you get a reading then the LT side is OK, if not suspect a faulty CDI unit, in my experience the CDI unit is more likely to fail than the coils - so check this first. If you get a reading from the voltmeter suspect the coil(s), if so - are these the 'old type' where the HT lead is removable - if so remove this and check. If not check the plug cap, again it is worth checking the the cap with a voltmeter just to make sure. Coils are more difficult to test, you can use a multimeter to test resitance but I don't know the readings. Let us know how you get on. Good luck

Hi.......and welcome aboard. All the information on the link but to summarize: For a youngster such as yourself if by 'standard' you mean Big Bike then there is no restriction after you pass - if you meant A2 then you would be restricted to 33bhp for 2 years, you will not be affected by the new regs if you take and pass a test before October 2008. As a biker who is starting out it is a good idea to get as much experience as you can on the road on a 125, and while a car driver for 20+ years may cause some initial coordination issues - the traffic experience you no doubt have is invaluable. Ride safe.

Agreed Drewpy - but have had a couple of instances where when the woodruff key 'went' the magneto 'slipped' and put the timing out - it is one of the first things I check on a stroker if I can't get the b****r to start and I know I have gas/compression/spark.

Hi I am fairly sure that the RXS had electronic ignition with a CDI unit - it was upgraded from the old points/condensor system on the RS which preceded it. Hope this helps.
