1981 XT 250 overcharging
Yeah... 40V doesn't sound right at all! I have no idea how to fix the problem or even what the problem is, but you could always try to suck up some of that power by slapping a load of xenon headlamps on the front like a 1970s Mod Lambretta..! 🛵 Other than that, I'm sure someone else will have a better idea!

YR5 running problem
Even if the battery died, wouldn't it continue to run on the alternator?

YZF750R no exup valve
I've got an ART can on the 'Ace currently! 😀 The answer is definitely the pipes. And getting rid of those original headers will only help your power to weight... Just make sure that you have the same clearance to your fairings. Paying out for a good quality pipe will make all the difference.

Carbs are magic items beyond the ken of myself... But I'm sure there's plenty of others in here that know about them lol

YR5 running problem
My first thought would be heat ceasing... Does it actually turn over? If not, check to see whether it starts as soon as it has gone cold (rather than overnight).

YZF750R no exup valve
Have you got a full exhaust? Or have you just removed the valve and connected the two halves? If you're still using your original exhaust, it's designed to work with the valve. You're gonna have to get an aftermarket exhaust and probably a can too. Modern exhaust systems are designed to give a good response over the entire rev range, the exup was apparently a fix for lesser technology... I've been drooling over this for my Thunderace: YZF1000 R Thunderace 1996-2003 Exhaust Downpipes Headers (blackwidowexhausts.co.uk) I'm sure if you gave them a ring they could do something for the 750. And these cans look good too: Blueflame-performance-motorcycle-exhaust-and-systems

Stainless Steel or Titanium bolts/studs?
Yeah, I got confused there too. My question isn't about nuts though, it's about studs and bolts in cast aluminium... Are there any problems associated with Stainless Steel or Titanium in Aluminium castings?
-
Stainless Steel or Titanium bolts/studs?
I don't see a lot of Brass studs/bolts being advertised. And they're pretty heavy... But you're right about the lack of reaction with steel, but I'm not so sure about it being reactionless with Aluminium.

YZF1000R Thunderace!
You know, when I first came across the Thunderace again, I called them Thunder Races too! Took a while to place that mental space... lol Does Alcantara feel like swede? I can't touch swede, it sets my teeth and fingernails on edge... eeew!!! rofl Ack, even just the thought of it has set me off!

Stainless Steel or Titanium bolts/studs?
Nope, and not gonna try!

Stainless Steel or Titanium bolts/studs?
So, here's the main question: Is it worth swapping standard steel bolts/studs for Stainless or even Titanium? Whilst almost everyone loves shiny bolts in their engine, right now I'm particularly thinking about my exhaust studs. I'd like to swap my exhaust and like most peoples (I suspect) studs, mine are pretty manky. In order of simplicity/cheapness, the options as I see it are: 1/ Just put the new exhaust on and change the nuts. 2/ Swap out the studs and nuts for new OEM ones. 3/ Swap out the studs and nuts for Stainless Steel or Titanium. I'm not bothered by the cost of Stainless Steel or Titanium, but there's no way I'm going to even attempt to remove rusted steel studs from a cast aluminium casing, therefor I'd get a shop to do it. So either option 2 or 3 will involve extra hassle (still not worried by the extra cost, it's all about making it easier for me). But, in thinking about this a bit deeper, are there any hidden issues involved in replacing stock steel studs/bolts that go into cast aluminium? For example: Heat expansion rates? Or chemical metal reaction between Alu and SS or Ti?

YZF1000R Thunderace!
So, while I'm waiting for wisdom on my previous questions 😉, I have another one about my exhaust... I got it fitted with an aftermarket exhaust with no exup on it, it's not bad. The can is an ART pro series II, my question is: Can I get a replacement baffle for it (did it actually ever come with a baffle?)?

Yamaha DT50MX 1987 Not starting
Ok, start at the beginning... All the stupid answers in order of simplicity: 1/ Did you remember to turn the fuel tap back on (trust me, I've done it...)? 2/ Is there actually any fuel in the tank (not personally done this one)? 3/ Are all your fuses ok (done this one too)? 4/ Does it have a fuel pump? 5/ You'll need a compression gauge, check the compression (if you've just put a new piston in it, the rings may be bad). Well, that's pretty much most of my experience..!
