I meant the sprocket in the wheel end of the speedo cable. And the fact that it could be anything and no way of knowing what without investigation...

Put twice as many teeth on the sprocket... Change the drive cable... Buy a new speedo... Too little information, too many answers...

Well, whatever the problem is, we need a way to contact the Admin that doesn't include posts and PMs, neither of which work when this happens..!
  4. Nice bike, you appear to be missing a registration plate...

    Yey! We can post again!!!
  6. Hmmm, it appears it is. Either I'm having an episode, or someone moved it for you lol
  7. You might want to continue your posts in the same thread, that way it doesn't all get lost...
  8. Not sure but most brake switches have some adjustment room. The first thing to figure out is whether it's staying on because the lever is leant on the switch at rest, or whether there's a fault with the switch...
  9. I'm not a 100% certain that this is what people mean when they mention 'naked bikes'..! Will be interested to see where you go with this!

Welcome in. That looks in bloody good condition!
  14. First job appears to be a new battery. Don't forget to grease the contacts to reduce corrosion too...

Just watched that video, I didn't understand a word of it..! Was interesting though! lol
  16. That's a 7 year old Thread... Your best bet would be to introduce yourself in the New Members Welcome Area... Tell us about yourself and what bikes you have and after a bit of a 'chat', post your problem Thread in a suitable Forum. Don't go straight for the cl*t dude! It's just not done!!!
  17. First job would be to remove the starter motor and make sure there's an undamaged cog secured on the end of it...

How many switches are there on the left grip? I'm finding pictures that show one or two... If it's two, the right one is on and off, and the left one is low and high. If it's one it's just high & low...

There's only so many switches on the handlebars of any bike, if you're not finding a switch that works the high beam, have you checked to see that the bulb is good?

Haynes will have it I believe... Yamaha XVS650 & 1100 (Drag Star, V-Star) '97 to '11 (Haynes Service & Repair Manual): Amazon.co.uk: Editors of Haynes Manuals: 9781785212697: Books Google is your friend!

What's that thing in the last picture, and is it meant to be welded solid?
  22. You'd be amazed at how you 'mould' into a new bike... It's going to feel large to you for a while, till you relax. I'd see how it goes first before adjusting the ride height, after a couple of months you may find that you can put your feet much flatter than you originally could.
  23. Welcome in! It looks in pretty good condition...
  24. sorry, Alex has a strike on his account if peeps post links to manuals
